determination
lived her life to extremes / was committed to
her sport
prepared to do that little extra thing in the preparation that sets her apart from her competitors
There are mainly three reasons why the writer was able to get to the top. First, it was because of her personality. She was born with an enormous about of drive and determination. Second, it was because of her attitude. She was totally commited to her sports. The last, she also took actions to get to the top. From a small girl, she would stay in at lunch and get ahead on class work. At 10 years old, she would go to swim 100 lengths of the pool while other kids played pool games. And she was the only girl in a rugby club of 250 boys.
2. What is your opinion about the writer’s attitude and commitment to the profession she has chosen
Example: I think she will get to the top because she has so much commitment to the profession and she is so determined to be the best.
I really admired her determination and commitment to the profession she has chosen. I would like to learn from her. Although I haven’t had the experience of getting to the top in an area, I have my own goal that I want to achieve in my life. On the way of reaching my goal, I will be willing to do the extra little bit like her. Thus, I can be closer and closer to my goal until one day when I can achieve it.

We use the indefinite article a/an
in front of singular countable nouns when it doesn’t matter which particular person or thing we are talking about, often when we mention this person/thing as an example of a group/category
e.g. We bought a new washing machine.
(It’s not important which one precisely.)
Open a window.
(There is more than one window but it’s not important which window you open. )
when we mention something for the first time
e.g. I saw a girl climbing the mountain. She was carrying a heavy backpack.
