David Diaz Jr. is the heroic pupil who attends Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Binghamton, New York. He saved his friend from choking on a piece of pizza while at lunch by using the Heimlich maneuver(海姆立克急救法). As a result, he was awarded the New York State Senate Commendation Award.

She said, “The adults were walking up and down in the dining hall, watching. David rushed behind the choking student and performed the Heimlich maneuver. The student was saved in the end.”

The Minnesota House of Representatives passed a bill(法案). It says the government will offer free lunch and breakfast to all Minnesota school students, no matter what their family situations are.
The program will ensure that daily breakfast and lunch are provided for every student who wants them.
“As a state, we are short of providing equal chances for all students without exception, and in a state with an agricultural tradition as rich as ours, it is particularly unacceptable that any child gets hungry,” said Representative Sydney Jordan.
Providing free meals for students will cost about 200 million dollars every year, according to the report by the government. Most of Minnesota schools receive federal funding(联邦资助) from the National School Lunch Program, which pays for each meal served, though it doesn’t cover the cost of the entire meal.
This new bill will fill the funding gap(资金缺口).
“We do have some meal programs already, but a quarter of hungry kids in Minnesota schools do not qualify(有资格拥有) for those programs,” said Sydney Jordan. “And so with this bill, this will make sure that every child has the tools—breakfast and lunch—to succeed in school.”

Things I do well in junior high school
How time flies! Looking back on the past three years in junior high school, I think there were some things that I did well.
First of all, I developed some good learning habits. For example, I listened carefully to the teacher’s lectures and took notes when necessary. In this way, I achieved good results in almost all exams. More importantly, I strived to maintain good health. I continued to exercise and eat more fruits and vegetables. As a result, I’m much stronger than I used to be. Last but not least, I tried my best to help people around me. Now I have many friends who are willing to give me a hand when I’m in trouble.
These things are small but valuable. I hope my experience can benefit you a lot.
