星期日表示罗马人尊崇太阳而把这一天定为 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )太阳日,英语中太阳为sun,星期日便称Sunday,这是一周的第一天。星期一是罗马人的月亮日,英语中月亮为moon,星期一便为Monday。从星期二到星期五都是条顿族定名的,依次为Tuesday(战神)、Wednesday(众神之王)、Thursday(雷神)、Friday(爱神)、星期六Saturday则是罗马人为纪念Saturn(农神)而确立的名称。
按照国际习惯,星期日为一个星期的第一天,星期六为一个星期的最后一天。
表达星期时应注意以下几点:
第一个字母要大写,如:Sunday, Monday.
星期前面用on,如:on Monday, on Monday morning.
星期的缩写:Sun., Mon., Tues.(Tue.), Wed., Thur.(Thu., Thurs), Fri., Sat.
