Use the flashlight that provides light only when necessary.
Find a Way Out
It’s getting darker and darker, and you’re getting more and more nervous. The following things are important to keep in mind. Please complete them.
Finally, you’re saved! Congratulations! But…
Your friend Amy is calling and tells you that she is trapped.
Help a Friend Out
You: Please help! The girl who I know is trapped in [some place]. She is the one who wears a red dress.
Rescuer: I am now right here. Is she the girl who has long hair
You: Yes, that’s her./No, that’s not her. She is the girl who …
Help a Friend Out
Fortunately, a rescuer you know is just on the site. Now please make a call to ask for help.
You: Amy, don’t worry.
I know a rescuer.
The rescuer wears a yellow and orange life vest.
He is paddling a canoe.
He is on the way to save you.
Please stay where you are and wait for him.

You may not know us. We lived in a house whose floor had been flooded when you arrived. You saved our lives. We’d like to give you the deepest gratitude from the bottom of our heart.

Applying the Rules
part 3
For people who love the sun, summer is a time of fun. But for people whose houses were submerged by the super flood that hit Zhengzhou in July, 2021, that summer was a time of great sadness. The floods killed 302 people, left 50 missing, and forced the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of people.
Practice
Amy wrote a story about what happened that day. Fill in the blanks for her.
The victims to whom the flood brought death or great loss were mainly in Henan province. In the days that have passed since then, much has been done to make things better and help the thousands of people whose homes were destroyed, although the sadness will never leave those whose summer now marks the death of a loved one.
Practice
So, the massive flooding has passed;
fortunately, everyone was safe and sound at last.
However,
what has the flood left to us
To wonder, and to ponder…
