状语从句
Mother was cooking dinner when I reached home.
当我到家的时候我妈妈正在做晚饭。
After I had done my homework, I went to bed.
在我做完作业之后，我上床睡觉了。
一个句子作状语，这样的句子就叫状语从句
状语从句可置主语之前，也可置主语之后。后置时，与主句之间无标点符号。

1、时间状语从句
标志词:when, while, since , till, until, as soon as
eg: While the girl was shopping, the UFO landed.
当这个小女孩正在购物的时候，不明飞行物着陆了。
When the film ended, they went back.
当电影结束的时候，他们回来了。
I'll let you know as soon as she comes.
她一来，我就会让你知道。
I waited until it got dark.
我一直等到天黑。
I did not know the truth until you told me.
直到你告诉我,我才知道事实。
The Greens has lived here since they came to China.
自从格林一家人来到中国，他们就一直在这居住。
(since 引导的时间壮语从句若用一般过去时，主句
则用现在完成时）

3、原因状语从句
标志词: because, since, as, for

4、目的状语从句
标志词: so that, in order that（to）
注：so that 或 in order that引导的目的状语从句中常常要用情态动词may, might, can, could, will, would或should等。

I looked through my test paper again and again ________ I wouldn't make any mistakes.

5、结果状语从句
标志词: so… that, such … that
such修饰名词；而so修饰形容词或副词。
eg: The film isn't so interesting that nobody likes it.
这部电影不是那么有趣,没人喜欢它。
It was such a cold day that nobody wanted to go out.
天气那么冷,没人想出去。
【注意】so...that...句型的否定形式可用简单句too...to...或not...enough to代替。如：
He is so young that he can't go to school.
＝He is too young to go to school.
＝He is not old enough to go to school.
他太小了,不能去上学。
