A holiday is any day when people lay aside their ordinary duties and cares. The word comes from Old English. At first, holidays honored some holy(神的) events or persons. People in Great Britain and other countries speak of holidays as Americans speak of vacations.
Every nation has its special holidays. China observes New Year’s Day(January 1), May Day and National Day as legal(法定的) holidays, as it was on Oct. 1, 1949 that People’s Republic of China was founded. The Chinese have long celebrated the Chinese lunar year. In the United States, congress(国会) has declared several as legal days such as New Year's Day (January1), Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day and so on. Some holidays celebrate special events in the development of a country, such as Greece’s Independence Day, Italy’s Liberation Day and India’s Independence Day.
In the United States, banks and schools usually close on a legal holiday. When such a holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday is often observed. Schools and organizations often observe days known as traditional holidays, although schools and businesses do not close then. Those holidays include Valentine's Day and Halloween.

Kuala Lumpur is an exciting capital city in Malaysia. Here are the top 4 budget hotels there:
The Chinatown Inn (About $30 per night)
Just a block from the railway station, located in Chinatown’s open market. It has clean beds, central air conditioning, hot water for coffee and tea, and a hall with a big screen TV. What will people die of 100 years from now If you think that is a simple question, you have not been paying attention to the revolution that is taking place in bio-technology. With the help of new medicine, the human body will last a very long time. Death will come mainly from accidents, murder and war. Today’s leading killers, such as heart disease, cancer, and aging itself, will become distant memories.
In discussion of technological changes, the Internet gets most of the attention these days. But the change in medicine can be the real technological event of our times. How long can humans live Human brains were known to decide the final death. Cells are the basic units of all living things, and until recently, scientists were sure that the life of cells could not go much beyond l20 years because the basic materials of cells, such as those of brain cells, would not last forever. But the upper limits will be broken by new medicine. Sometime between 2050 and 2100, medicine will have advanced to the point at which every 10 years or so, people will be able to take medicine to repair their organs. The medicine, made up of the basic building materials of life, will build new brain cells, heart cells, and so on — in much the same way our bodies make new skin cells to take the place of old ones.
It is exciting to imaging that the advance in technology may be changing the most basic condition of human existence, but many technical problems still must be cleared up on the way to this wonderful future.

D. the basic materials of cells will last forever
35. We can learn from the passage that .
A. much needs to be done before humans can have a longer life
B. human life will not last more than 120 years in the future

Kids' health: Four steps for fighting stress
Everybody gets stressed time to time. 36 Some ways of dealing with stress---like screaming or hitting someone---don't solve much. But other ways, like talking to someone you trust, can lead you to solving your problem or at least feeling better.
Try taking these four steps the next time you are stressed:
(1) Get support. When you need help, reach out to the people who care about you. Talk to
trusted adult, such as “parent or other relatives.” 37 . They might have had similar problems, such as dealing with a test, or the death of a beloved pet.
(2) Don't take it out on yourself. Sometimes when kids are stressed and upset they take it out on themselves. Oh, dear, that's not a good idea. Remember that there are always people to help you. Don't take it out on yourself. 38 .
(3) Try to solve the problem. After you're calm and you have support from adults and friends, it's time to get down to business. 39 . Even if you can't solve it all, you can solve a piece of it.
(4) Be positive. Most stress is temporary. Remember stress does go away, especially when you figure out the problem and start working on solving it. These steps aren't magic, but they do work. And if you can stay positive as you make your way through a tough time, you'll help yourself feel better even faster. 40 .
A. Notice your friends' feelings and find a way to help them.
B. Different people feel stress in different ways
C. You need to figure out what the problem is.
D. Then, find a way to calm down.
E. Ask for a helping hand to get you through the tough situation.
F. Ah, it feels so good when the stress is gone.
G. And don't forget about your friends.

Dear editor,
I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we held on whether it is good to keep animals in zoos. Those who favor the idea think it provides chances for people to see wild animals. It might also develop people’s love for animals and nature. Besides, animals in zoos can be protected from danger in the wild.21cnjy.com
However, those who are against the idea think that it’s a waste of money and labor to keep animals in the zoo. It’ll also damage the balance of nature. Animals will lose their freedom if caged in the zoo. I personally feel it is wrong to take animals away from their natural living areas and keep them locked up.21·世纪*教育网
