Sfoglia Rina
Tradition and innovation are all on the menu at Sfoglia Rina, along-standing family restaurant near Bologna’s famous Two Towers. Rina was started as a fresh pasta (意大利面食) shop back in the 1960s, and the pasta is all still handmade. Ingredients are carefully and sustainably sourced, and pasta-making classes are periodically offered for kids and adults.

Aperitivo is typically a pre-dinner snack and drink, but at Zerocinquantino, you may make it a meal as many people in Bologna do. Baskets of local bread are served with the region’s famous meat and cheeses, and a long list of wines is available in glasses and bottles. The service is fast, and the atmosphere is young and modem.
Via Pescherie Vecchie, 3/E, 40124 Bologna
Trattoria Da Vito
It’s a legendary gathering place for Bologna*s artists and educated people. The inside hasn’t been updated since Vito left the building long before; the menu hasn’t changed. Meals are traditional and extremely cheap, with nothing priced over ? 10.
Via Mario Musolesi, 9a, 40138 Bologna
Drogheria della Rosa
With tables spreading out under Bologna’s medieval porticos (中世纪门廊), Drogheria della Rosa is a favorite for the best atmosphere in Bologna. Fortunately, that atmosphere is matched by excellent food and service, both provided by the chef and owner Emanuele Addone, who personally visits each table. The menu is a mix of traditional Bolognese food and dishes from around Italy, so you’re sure to find something you like as long as you have enough money.

When we talk more broadly of body language, rather than good postures, we can actually see the effects it has on relationships right throughout the animal kingdom. In particular, body language is used to express power through expansive (扩张的) postures.
You might know about Amy Cuddy’s famous Ted Talk and her incredible insights on how posture changes our thoughts. Cuddy and her team study body language, particularly what they call “high-power” and “low-power” poses.
“High-power” poses refer to the act of taking a posture of confidence, which can help you feel more self-confident, even after only two minutes. Typical high-power poses are about opening up. You stretch and expand your body to take up as much space as possible. For example, bosses are doing high-power poses when they lean back in their chairs, put their hands behind their heads, and kick their feet up onto their desks. Meanwhile, people take low-power positions when they’re feeling helpless or defeated. They close up, arms around themselves, taking up the smallest space.
Some even more recent studies took this even further: A study by researchers from Columbia and Harvard Universities showed that body language symbolizing power can actually affect our decision-making, unintentionally. The researchers measured the desire for risk of participants in either expansive, powerful poses or constricted (收缩的) poses. Those in the powerful poses not only felt more powerful and in control, but were 45% more likely to take risky actions.
“This isn’t about what your body language is communicating to others; it’s about what your body language is communicating to you. Your body language is changing your mind, which changes your behavior, which changes your outcomes,” said Cuddy.
So if you want to take advantage of the benefits of these poses to live a healthier and happier life, where should you start
4. Which is probably a low-power pose according to the text
A. Sitting with hands crossed in the lap.
B. Arms raised in a “V” above the head.
C. Standing with your legs open.
D. Sitting with your arms spreading out on the chair.
5. What can we say about people in the expansive poses
A. They are hesitant. B. They are very shy.
C. They feel out of control. D. They feel more confident.
6. What is the text mainly about
A. The posture of confidence. B. Cuddy’s research on behavior.
C. The surprising power of body language. D. The research about decision-making.
7. What might be talked about in the following paragraph
A. How to correct bad habits. B. How to improve your body language.
C. How posture affects your health. D. Why good posture matters for employees.
A 5. D 6. C 7. B

根据第三段“Meanwhile, people take low-power positions when they’re feeling helpless or defeated. They close up, arms around themselves, taking up the smallest space.(与此同时,当人们感到无助或被打败时,他们会采取低权力姿势。他们紧闭身体,双臂紧贴身体,占据最小的空间)”可推断,手交叉放在腿上坐着,缩小自己占用的空间,属于“低权利”姿势。故选A。
根据第三段““High-power” poses refer to the act of taking a posture of confidence, which can help you feel more self-confident, even after only two minutes. (“强势”姿势指的是摆出一种自信的姿势,这种姿势即使在两分钟后也能让你感觉更自信)”及第四段“The researchers measured the desire for risk of participants in either expansive, powerful poses or constricted (收缩的) poses. Those in the powerful poses not only felt more powerful and in control, but were 45% more likely to take risky actions.(研究人员测量了参与者在舒展的、有力的姿势和收缩的姿势中对风险的渴望。
根据最后一段“So if you want to take advantage of the benefits of these poses to live a healthier and happier life, where should you start (所以,如果你想利用这些姿势的好处,过上更健康、更快乐的生活,你应该从哪里开始呢?)”

China is recognized as a world leader in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and facial recognition systems. A Chinese company says it has created a new facial recognition system that can identify people even if they are wearing masks (口罩). Engineers at the Beijing-based company say their system is the first to be created to effectively identify people wearing face masks.
The company told a news agency that a team of 20 people built the system in about a month. The system is based on existing technologies developed over the past 10 years. The process involved adding a collection of about 6 million unmasked faces and a much smaller collection of masked faces, the company said.
The company is now selling two main kinds of products that use the new technology. One performs “single channel” recognition, which is designed to be used at the entrances to buildings. The other product is a “multi-channel” recognition system that uses groups of surveillance (监视) cameras. It can identify individuals in a crowd of up to 30 people within a second.
“When people are wearing a mask that covers the mouth and the nose, the recognition rate can reach about 95%, which can ensure that most people can be identified,” said Huang, vice president of the company. He added that the system’s success rate for people not wearing a mask is about 99.5%.
However, the new system struggles to identify people wearing both a mask and sunglasses. “In this situation, all of the key facial information is lost. In such cases recognition is graunchy,” Huang said.
People react to the new technology differently. While some citizens have been against using such tools, the majority have accepted the technology as an effective way to reduce crime and catch criminals.
8. What did the company do to build the system
A. It gathered many face images. B. It used the latest technology.
C. It added a collection of masks. D. It employed hundreds of people.
9. What can we know about the new system
A. Its success rate is affected by cameras.
B. It recognizes groups of people in seconds.
C. Its performance changes with the location.
D. It does better in identifying unmasked faces.
10. What does the underlined word “graunchy” in paragragh 5 mean
A. Tough. B. Specific. C. Normal. D. Different.
11. What is most people’s attitude towards the new system
A. Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Objective. D. Supportive.
A 9. D 10. A 11. D
根据文章第二段“The system is based on existing technologies developed over the past 10 years. The process involved adding a collection of about 6 million unmasked faces and a much smaller collection of masked faces, the company said.(该系统是基于过去10年开发的现有技术。该公司表示,这一过程包括增加约600万张未戴面具的面孔,以及数量小得多的戴面具的面孔。)”可知,公司为了研发新系统搜集了很多面孔。故选A。
根据文章第四段““When people are wearing a mask that covers the mouth and the nose, the recognition rate can reach about 95%, which can ensure that most people can be identified,” said Huang, vice president of the company. He added that the system’s success rate for people not wearing a mask is about 99.5%.(该公司副总裁黄说:“当人们戴着覆盖口鼻的口罩时,识别率可以达到95%左右,这可以确保大多数人都能被识别出来。”他补充说,该系统对不戴口罩的人的成功率约为99.5%。)”可知,这家公司的系统识别不戴口罩的人脸成功率为99.5%,而戴口罩的成功率为95%,所以该系统在识别不戴口罩的人脸上成功率更高。故选D。
【10题详解】
词句猜测题。根据划线单词上一句“However, the new system struggles to identify people wearing both a mask and sunglasses.(然而,新系统很难识别既戴口罩又戴太阳镜的人。)” 故选A。
根据文章最后一段“While some citizens have been against using such tools, the majority have accepted the technology as an effective way to reduce crime and catch criminals.(虽然一些公民反对使用这些工具,但大多数人都接受了这项技术,认为它是减少犯罪和抓捕罪犯的有效途径。)”
D
Bioluminescence (生物发光) is a natural phenomenon wherein a chemical reaction within an organism’s body produces light. It can be found in many places in nature — fireflies, some mushrooms — but mostly in the deep sea.
Recently, Rambouillet, a small historic French town, has teamed up with a company called Glowee to turn the city into a full-scale bioluminescence laboratory. The goal is to change the way in which cities use light. The company uses marine (海的) bacteria harvested from the coast of France. It makes some of the town’s public light up in the cool blue of bioluminescence.
These bioluminescent bacteria are stored in a seawater filled tube, giving the bacteria room to float around and light up. The light provided by the bacteria is part of their natural metabolism, so producing the light requires no energy other than that which is needed to feed the organisms. This makes it much more environmentally friendly and sustainable than electric light, which consumes a huge amount of non-renewable energy.
“On the way to lighting up the world with bioluminescence, you have to feed the bacteria and add water as they grow. That’s not so easy. The phenomenon will be very temperature-dependent and I doubt that it will work in the winter. Also, bioluminescence is not very bright compared to electrical lighting, though they have improved the light intensity,” Carl Johnson, a professor from Vanderbilt University said.
One potential solution to these issues — and one that Glowee is looking into — is to remove the biological aspect of the whole process. Theoretically, luciferase (荧光素酶) can be removed from the bacteria and used to create light instead of the bacteria itself. Because luciferase is non-living, it doesn’t need to be fed. Creating new means of sustainable lighting is a way of being environmentally friendly without plunging the earth back into darkness.
12. What do we know about Glowee
A. It is an ancient laboratory in France.
B. It solves power shortages in coastal cities.
C. It adopts bioluminescence as a light source.
D. It feeds marine organisms to produce chemicals.
13. What does Paragraph 3 mainly focus on
A. The reasons for energy waste.
B. The advantages of the marine bacteria as light.
C. The living conditions of the bioluminescent bacteria.
D. The difficulties of storing bioluminescent organisms.
14. What does Carl Johnson convey in his words
A. The bacteria work more efficiently under low temperatures.
B. It will cost too much to improve the luminescence intensity.
C. The application of bioluminescence enjoys a bright prospect.
D. The development of bioluminescence faces many challenges.
15. What could be the best title of this text
A. A Historic Town Lit up by Nature
B. The First Zero-carbon City in the World
C. A Reform of Producing Electricity in Cities
D. The Discovery of Luciferase in Marine Bacteria
C 13. B 14. D 15. A

根据文章第三段“The light provided by the bacteria is part of their natural metabolism, so producing the light requires no energy other than that which is needed to feed the organisms. This makes it much more environmentally friendly and sustainable than electric light, which consumes a huge amount of non-renewable energy.(细菌提供的光是它们自然新陈代谢的一部分,所以产生光不需要能量,只需要生物体所需的能量。这使得它比消耗大量不可再生能源的电灯更加环保和可持续。)”可知,第三段主要讲得是海洋细菌作为光源的优点。故选B项。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第四段“On the way to lighting up the world with bioluminescence, you have to feed the bacteria and add water as they grow. That’s not so easy. The phenomenon will be very temperature-dependent and I doubt that it will work in the winter. Also, bioluminescence is not very bright compared to electrical lighting, though they have improved the light intensity(在用生物发光照亮世界的路上,你必须给细菌喂食,并在它们生长的过程中加水。这可不容易。这种现象将非常依赖于温度,我怀疑它在冬天会起作用。此外,生物发光与电照明相比不是很亮,尽管它们提高了光强度)”可以推知,生物发光的发展面临着许多挑战。故选D项。

They believe the book offers more information, and it’s enjoyable to read beautiful language. From my point of view, reading the book may be the better choice. 47.
On Tom’s birthday, everything went on as usual. He was about to leave for school when his parents smiled, “Wait! We have something special for you.” Then, they handed Tom a pair of cool basketball shoes.
Tom was so glad. “Happy birthday!” his parents said as he tried the shoes on. “These are not new. I got them from Mr. Byrne’s second-hand shop, but they look pretty new, right ” Tom’s mom added. “I don’t care where they came from, Mom. These are amazing! Thank you!” Tom replied and hugged his parents.
Tom came to school in these shoes. His friends immediately gathered, and considered his shoes cool. Tom gladly let them take turns trying on the shoes. That was when Brandon saw the words on the sole (鞋底) of one of the shoes.
“There’s something written here,” Brandon said, sitting down and taking off the shoes.
Tom took the pair and read the words on the sole, “To my dearest boy.” “Your parent probably wrote that,” Brandon stated. Tom shook his head, replying, “This is not my parent’s handwriting. It must be from the old owner’s parent.” Tom then wondered who would have given up such pretty shoes. “Maybe these shoes have an unusual story,” he thought.
When school ended, he reached Mr. Byrne’s store and asked about the shoes. The old man tried to recall who had brought them over. Then he said, “Oh, these were brought in by Samuel around your age. He lives in a yellow wooden house nearby.” “Do you know why he sold them ” Tom asked. “Most people bring things here because they need money,” Mr. Byrne explained.
Samuel was just one of such people. His dad had died weeks before, and his poor mother was sick and needed money for medicine (药). So he finally decided to sell his basketball shoes to support his mother though he loved the shoes.
Not knowing the fact, Tom walked out of the store, thinking about the people who needed to give up their things for money. “If the boy who owned these shoes had done so, he was probably sad about it,” Tom whispered (低声细语), and decided to learn about what had happened to the boy.
注意:
1.续写同数应为150左右;

Then, Tom began removing his shoes before Samuel, deciding to return them to him.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
He looked around the street and spotted Samuel’s house. It was a yellow wooden house, exactly like Mr. Byrne had described. Tom felt a mixture of emotions that a boy his own age had been forced to sell his beloved shoes because of poverty and hardship. He knocked on the door, nervous but also hopeful that he might be able to help. It was Samuel, the former owner of the shoes, that opened the door. “I think these are yours”, Tom said.
Then, Tom began removing his shoes before Samuel, deciding to return them to him. “I hope things get better for you.” Tom added. Samuel stared at the shoes in his hand, tears forming in his eyes. “Thank you,” he whispered. “I... I don’t know how to repay you.” Tom smiled. “You don’t have to repay me,” he said. “Just remember, there are people who care about you and your family. You’re not alone.” He turned and walked away, hoping that his small act of kindness could make a difference in Samuel’s life.

A Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Objective. D. Supportive.
13. What does Paragraph 3 mainly focus on
A The reasons for energy waste.
B. The advantages of the marine bacteria as light.
