Analysis of the Teaching Material 本课是一节听说课，因这是本单元第一课时,其基础地位和铺垫作用应给予高度重视。 教师通过与学生进行互动交流，提出问题引导学生谈论风俗习惯。呈现新授单词以及目标语言，为听力活动作前期的铺垫。本课是一节听说课。通过Free talk:Do you like traveling 引导学生通过谈论不同国家的习俗和在当地被期望做的事而导人句型:be supposed/expected to do sth.来导人新课。
Analysis of the Students 九年级的学生，语言感知能力比较强，加上多数同学很想了解不同国家的风俗习惯、文化差异。他们对本课应该比较感兴趣，运用新句型进行语言输出的愿望比较强。但到了九年级，学生在学习上出现了分化现象，有的学生英语语言基础薄弱，语言拓展的运用能力比较差，而且在学习过程中缺乏耐性。因此，作为老师要鼓励学生积极学习，激发学生学习的兴趣。
