turn down相当于refuse,为动副短语,后接代词作宾语时,代词要放在turn与down之间。后接名词时,名词放在中间和后面均可。
I turned down her help because I could finish it myself.

I offered him a job, but he turned it down.

(1) sad adj. (令人)悲哀的;(令人)难过的

I’m sad to hear the news. 听到这个消息我很难过。

at the end of ... “在......末端;在......尽头”,可以接时间,也可以接地点。其反义短语为at the beginning of ...。

7. Bring Ms. Steen to the party without telling her so that she can
be surprised.
(1) without 介词,“没有;不(做某事)”,其后可跟名词、代词或动词-ing形式,用来表示伴随或假设的情况。其反义词是with(具有;带有)。短语:not ... without 没有......就不能。

(2) so that “以便;为的是”,引导目的状语从句,相当于in order
that,也可转换为to do 或 in order to do 作目的状语的简单句。

look forward to “期待;盼望”,其中to为介词,其后可跟名词、代词或动词-ing形式作宾语。

make it 是一个在口语中使用频率较高的习语,具有较强的交际功能。主要用法:
