Having spent more than a decade on the dance floor, ROME — Niccolo Filippi, a 23-year-old Italian dance performer, recently decided to explore Chinese culture and its traditional dance forms and believes that this experience will not only boost his career, but also broaden his horizons beyond the world of dance.
His interest in diversifying his skills grew after he stumbled upon a short video of traditional Chinese-styled dance on YouTube. “I saw it as an art that combines tradition and modernity, which was mostly the reason why I liked it,” says Filippi.
Ever since, he has been closely following Chinese dance performers and watching numerous videos to learn more about the traditional style that he admires. “I prefer the traditional style because of its light movements. It also reflects my personality with elegance,” he adds.
Filippi’s chance came when he was invited to perform for a Chinese New Year celebration in the central Italian city of Florence. He has since fully committed himself to the art form, learning several pieces and putting his newfound passion into practice.
“The biggest difference that I found (compared to other disciplines) is the change of mood and emotional expressions among dances,” says Filippi, adding that he needed to shift from the dynamic moves of hip-hop to the graceful and fluid movements of Chinese dance. Despite various obstacles, Filippi’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Two of his friends shared videos of his performances on social media, and the response was overwhelming. One video garnered 500,000 views, while the other received 200,000 views.
Filippi believes that learning about different cultures is priceless, and he sees it as a means of personal growth. “I like to think of a person as a book,” he says. “Embracing different traditions and cultures, such as Chinese culture and many others, is like adding new chapters to my book, making it more diverse and wonderful.”
24. What is the main reason why Filippi falls in love with traditional Chinese dance
A. Its potential to boost his career. B. Its mix of traditional and modern elements.
C. Its graceful and light movements. D. Its true reflection of his elegant personality.
25. How does the author illustrate the popularity of Filippi’s videos
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving an example.
C. By sharing a story. D. By making a comparison.
26. What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A. Filippi thinks little of learning from other cultures.
B. People prefer to write down their past experiences.
C. Accepting various cultures boosts personal growth.
D. A book with chapters on traditions is more wonderful.
27. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Chinese-styled dance videos go viral on social media.
B. An Italian’s dance journey towards specialization starts.
C. Filippi’s desire for Chinese culture extends beyond dance.
D. An Italian dancer shows passion for Chinese-styled dance.

Turning 18 is a big deal when you are a teenager. It means you are responsible for yourself and don’t need your parents’ permission any more. However, there are lots of opinions about when one becomes an adult. Some are based on science, while others are personal opinions. While currently the age is 18, science supports 25 as a more sensible age for adulthood, and I agree.
While studying the brain of teenagers, scientists have learned that when kids are around l8, their prefrontal cortex (前额皮层) is only halfway developed. The prefrontal-cortex helps people set and achieve goals by receiving signals from different regions of the brain to process information and adapting accordingly. That halfway development means that you still have things to learn and your brains still have time to develop until the age of 25.
Some people think going off to college and living on your own qualify (使……具有资格) san adult, while others may believe having a steady income and being able to afford to live on your own are what make you an adult. Not everyone has a fortunate life where they have family that can provide support; there are situations where you are forced to become an “adult” whether you like it or not.
In the foster care (寄养) system, once a child turns 18, he or she is considered an adult and can no longer receive state-sponsored support. These children are forced into a life where they have no family or anyone to support them other than those who were there for them in the system.
Having a quality job will allow you to supply yourself with necessary things to live and help you become a more mature and responsible person. Also, going through difficult times and realizing life isn’t as easy as it seems, should qualify someone as an adult.
28. What is the author’s attitude toward considering 25 as an age for adulthood
A. Cautious. B. Uncaring. C. Doubtful. D. Positive.
29. How does the prefrontal cortex work to help people set and achieve goals
A. By dealing with received signals and responding accordingly.
B. By collecting information from other parts of the body.
C. By sending instructions to different regions of the brain
D. By transporting sensed emotions and making records
30. What does the author intend to do in paragraph 3
A. Give a definition of adulthood.
B. Stress the importance of family support.
C. Prove not everyone lives a fortunate life.
D. Show opinion on becoming an adult is divided
31. What is one standard qualifying you as an adult according to the author
A. Setting up a family.
B. Being responsible for your study.
C. Accepting and learning from the low moments in life.
D. Buying yourself quality things to live.

China’s space industry has made great achievements, which makes us occupy a place in the world space field. After 11 years, China has finally completed its Tiangong space station with the docking (对接) its Mengtian lab module, establishing the Tiangong as the second operational space station apart from the US-led, multinational International Space Station.
On November 1, the Mengtian lab module, the third and final part of its Tiangong space station docked with the core Tianhe module 13 hours after being launched. Next, the Tianhe and Mengtian modules will dock with the Wentian lab module, completing Tiangong’s T-shaped basic structure. The 17.88-meter-long, 23-ton Mengtian module is the heaviest operational single-cabin (舱) active spacecraft in orbit. Mengtian consists of a work cabin, a goods airlock cabin, a payload cabin and resource cabin. In addition, it has eight scientific experiment rooms and 37 extravehicular (舱外的) installation (安装) options.
One of the more ambitious aims of China’s space program is to position the country as a leading provider of space-based international public goods and services, such as planetary defense. Last month, Asia Times reported about China’s plans to conduct its first asteroid (行星) direction-changing test in 2025 or 2026. China has also taken pioneering steps in Mar exploration. A good example is the completion of China’s Tianwen-1 Mars mission. China has also stated that it is willing to share scientific data from its Tianwen-l mission at an appropriate time and that scientists are welcome to apply for research over the data.
Moreover, China has also announced plans to send men to the moon, helping its future settlement and economic use. And China and Russia plan to establish a permanent moon base by 2027. The base, the International Lunar Research Station, is seen as an experimental complex designed for multiple scientific activities.
Reflecting China’s open-door space policy, the Tiangong is designed to be “inclusive” and adaptable for foreign astronauts.
32. Which statement is true about the Mengtian module according to the text
A. It has docked with the Wentian lab module.
B. It is an significant part of Tiangong space station.

33. Why did the author mention “China’s plan” in paragraph 4
A. To present a fact. B. To explain a rule.

A. By sending men to the settlement of the moon.
B. By providing clear photos of the planet’s surface.
C. By sharing scientific data from its Tianwen-1 mission.
D. By setting up a moon base for multiple scientific activities.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. International Space Station Suffers Wear and Tear

Easton retired(退休) as a school teacher, and he didn’t have enough savings. What’s worse, his wife, Cassandra, had heart disease that needed expensive treatment.
To save his wife’s life, Easton didn’t have a choice but to take up a job, and he found one as a pizza delivery(递送) man at Rooster’s Pizza. On his first day on the job, his co-workers judged him because the sight of an 84-year-old pizza delivery man was undoubtedly a rare one. But Easton didn’t care.
After delivering the first two orders that day, Easton was on his way to deliver the third one, when he realized his car was low on gas. He stopped at a gas station, worried he would be late for his next delivery. Determined to make it on time, Easton grabbed the steering wheel and drove as fast as he could. However, as he reached one of the main roads, a police car stopped him.
When Officer Jenkins and Officer Matthew walked up to Easton’s car, they were shocked to see an 84-year-old behind the wheel of a pizzeria car. Moreover, they didn’t expect an old man to be speeding.
“You see,” Easton said nervously, “I am running late for pizza delivery. We have a policy of delivering pizza within 45 minutes, or I’ll have to pay for it out of my pocket, and I need money for my wife’s treatment. I hope you understand…”
Officer Matthew looked at Easton’s teary eyes and trembling hands and felt deeply sad for him. However, he couldn’t go against his line of duty. They had to give him a ticket anyway. Easton was late for the delivery that day, prompting his manager to deduct(扣除) it from his salary. He was also warned that he would have to leave if he repeated the mistake.
Not losing heart, Easton set out for his deliveries the following day. “Rooster’s Pizza!” he shouted as he rang the doorbell of one of the houses on his list.

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:1. 续写词数应150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
When the door opened, Easton recognized his customer was Officer Matthew!

Easton couldn’t believe what had just happened and was surprised by what Officer Matthew did for him.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
When the door opened, Easton recognized his customer was Officer Matthew! He handed the pizza and was about to leave when Officer Matthew stopped him and approached him with an envelope. “We were able to raise a modest sum for your wife’s treatment, sir. It’s only $2,340,but I’m hoping it’ll help. Last night, I thought about how I was unwilling to give the ticket to you, but that’s our line of duty, sir. I spoke to your boss, and he agreed that your pay wouldn’t be deducted. Take care of your wife, and I appreciate the pizza!” Officer Matthew smiled and went inside.
Easton couldn’t believe what had just happened and was surprised by what Officer Matthew did for him. With trembling hands, he opened the envelope and found several dollar bills and a note that read: “Our duty is to protect and serve, but we are still humans at the end of the day. Have a wonderful day!” His eyes filled with tears, Easton rang the doorbell and thanked Officer Matthew again. Then he got into his car and drove away.
①由第一段首句内容“When the door opened, Easton recognized his customer was Officer Matthew!(当门打开时,伊斯顿认出他的顾客是警官Matthew!)”可知,该段应描写警官Matthew对Easton所说的话,讲到职业职责和私下里为Easton所作的事情。
②由第二段首句内容“Easton couldn’t believe what had just happened and was surprised by what Officer Matthew did for him.(Easton不敢相信刚刚发生的一切,警官Matthew为他所做的一切让他感到惊讶。)”
