5. Another example is that you’re not supposed to eat anything with your hands except bread, not even fruit.
except是介词,意为“除……之外都……”。相当于but,表示在一个整体中,除去一个或多个(人或物)以外的其他全部都…… ,即强调不包括部分,一般用来排除同类事物。
