【词汇用法】
1.unusual adj.与众不同的;不寻常的;独特的。
其反义词为usual,意为“通常的;寻常的;惯常的”。
常用短语:as usual像平常一样;照例。其副词为unusually,意为“不寻常地;意想不到地”。
例:He listened carefully,but heard nothing unusual.
He had a bad cold,but he kept on working as usual.
拓展:usually adv.通常;经常。常用于表示做某事的频率。
例:She usually helps her mom cook dinner and has dinner at about 6:00 p.m.
scary adj. 恐怖的;吓人的。
它常用于修饰物。
例:Many people don't like lions because they are scary.
拓展: scared adj.恐怖的;惊恐的。它常用于修饰人。
常用短语:be scared of害怕……;be scared to do sth害怕做某事。
writer n.作家,作者。它是可数名词,其动词形式为write(写)。
拓展: 在动词后面加-r/-er可构成名词,表示做该事情的人。如:clean(清洁)→cleaner(清洁工);work(工作)→worker(工人)等。
【重点语法】
定语从句
概念:在复合句中,修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫做定语从句。
e.g. The man who lives next to us is a policeman.
住在隔壁的男人是个警察。
e.g. The people that come to visit the city are all here.
来参观这座城市的人都在这儿。
e.g. This is the pen which he bought yesterday.
这是他昨天买的笔。
上面例句中的man, people和pen是定语从句所修饰的词,叫先行词。
定语从句放在先行词的后面。who, that, which是引导定语从句的关系代词。
用法:①who指人,which指物,that既可以指人也可以指物。
The boys who/that are playing football are from Class One.
那些正在踢足球的男孩子是一班的。
Football is a game which/that is liked by most boys.
足球是一项大部分男孩子都喜欢的运动。
②关系代词在从句中作宾语时可省略。
The man (who/that) you met just now is my friend.
你刚才见到的那个男人是我的朋友。
③关系词常有三个作用:A. 引导定语从句 B. 代替先行词 C. 在定语从句中担当一个成分
④关系代词只能用that,不能用which的情况
先行词是指物的不定代词如:all, much, little, everything, nothing等时,或先行词被不定代词all, few, little, much, very, some, no等修饰时

【重点句型】
1.He likes clothes that are unusual.

unusual 是形容词,意为“不寻常的;罕见的;独特的”。其反义词是usual(平常的),副词形式为unusually(异常地)。

2.He likes clothes that are unusual.他喜欢不同寻常的衣服。
He likes writers who explain things well. 他喜欢能将事情解释清楚的作家。_
I like movies that are sad. 我喜欢忧伤的电影。
第一个句子中“that are unusual”是用来限定、修饰clothes的,叫作定语从句。定语从句通常出现在先行词之后,由关系词引导。
在以上三句中出现的that、who是关系代词。它可以代替前面的先行词,又可以在定语从句中充当主语、宾语、定语等。关系代词如果在从句中作主语就要用主格,如果作宾语就要用宾格,,如果作定语就要用所有格。
注意:关系代词在定语从句中作主语时,要注意的是谓语动词的单复数,应该与先行词保持一致。
如:(1)我有一个朋友,他的钢琴弹得很棒。

I work at a company where there are lots of employees. I can't say that I know them all by name, but I know most of them. I think that almost all of them know me. It's all based on one simple principle: I believe that every single person deserves(应得) to be acknowledged(承认), even though it is only a smile or a nod of the head.
When I was about ten years old, I was walking down the street with my mother. She stopped to speak to Mr. Lee. I was busy trying to throw a rock at the “O” in the stop sign. I knew I could see Mr. Lee any time around the neighborhood, so I didn't pay any attention to him. After we passed Mr. Lee, my mother stopped me and said something that has been with me from that day until now. I remember after a few years of passing by the boss, I had the courage to ask him for a meeting. We had a great talk. At a certain point, I asked him how far he thought I could go in his company. He said, “If you want to, you can get all the way to this seat.”
The day you speak to someone who has his head held down and when he lifts it up and smiles, you realize how powerful it is just to open your mouth and say, “Hello.”
