When I was in junior high school, I was really a bad boy. My history teacher—Mr Oven criticized me a lot because I was naughty in his class. By the end of the first semester, I’d had enough of his words and had decided that I would get my revenge on him.
The opportunity arose one morning when Mr. Oven was called to the office for a certain reason. While Mr. Oven left, my company Billy and I grabbed Mr. Oven’s lunch bag from under his desk. I opened his sandwich and placed a bug in between the two slices of bread. We put it back and closed it. To keep it in memory, Billy took photos of the whole process. We laughed for weeks over this.
Well, it all went south during Thanksgiving break. Billy’s mother found the pictures in his room, and demanded that he should tell her where these pictures were from. Billy told his mother the whole story, and Mr. Oven was informed. Not only was I punished from school for two weeks, but also I was kicked off the football and basketball team. Before I could return to school, I had to turn in a 1000-word essay on what I did and why I did that. I really felt embarrassed every time I saw Mr. Oven in the hallway for the rest of the school year. I felt a little regret that Mr. Oven left our school the next year.

A. I didn’t go to his class B. I disobeyed his rules in class

Exactly As Described Feb 15, 2010
Product arrived quickly. The description said there was a tear on the cover of the book.I was pleased that it was just a small tear and otherwise the book was in very good condition. This seller was honest and did not try to overplay the condition in order to make a sale.
Some good information Feb 06, 2010
This book does have some good information, but it does not talk at all about eating organic food, grass fed beef, free-range eggs, etc.The poisonous pesticides (杀虫剂) and artificial hormones (激素) in our society have a huge effect on our health and some illnesses probably wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for them.
Fantastic Aug 05, 2009
This book is perfect for any questions you have about using food to help your body.We all know chicken soup helps colds, but did you know? What is it that makes people laugh? More than two thousand years ago the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle defined (定义) jokes as the pleasure that results from a feeling of victory by showing we’re better than someone else in a certain way. According to Aristotle and many other philosophers, all jokes depend mainly on showing inferiority in another person or group of persons — that is,putting it clearly,on showing that they are worse off than ourselves. Jokes raise our good opinion of ourselves at someone else’s expense.
Showing how much better than other people we are is only one reason we like jokes. Someone may also use a joke to express their anger or their cruelty or any other kind of action that is not acceptable to us. We feel free to laugh when we hear about someone sliding on a banana skin. The joke lets us express those attitudes which are usually unacceptable to society. This is probably the reason why some of the jokes, especially those involving cruelty, are so popular with certain people.
Besides, all jokes depend on our enjoyment of laughing at something that is strange and out of place because it’s different from things which are happening around it. The same situation can be either sad or pleasant, depending entirely on how strange and out of place it is. If a girl in a bathing suit falls into a swimming pool,we don’t laugh because nothing unusual has happened. But if a man in a smart suit falls in,the situation is at once unusual in a pleasant way and we laugh. A good joke-teller will always try to build up a situation in which one thing is expected until something unexpected suddenly happens, and so we laugh.
28. The underlined word “inferiority” (in Paragraph 1) means ______.
A. something that is not as good as something else B. something that is better than something else
C. someone that is not as good as someone else D. someone that is better than someone else
29. According to Aristotle, all jokes depend mainly on ______.
A. showing inferiority in another person or group B. resulting in a sense of success
C. having a good opinion of other people D. making people laugh unexpectedly
30. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A. Showing we are better than other people is the only one reason we like jokes.
B. When people are angry, they would like to hear jokes.
C. People who like jokes are usually cruel.
D.To express those attitudes usually unacceptable to society is one of the reasons we like jokes.
31. What will a good joke-teller always try to do?
A. Make a sad situation into a pleasant one.
B. Make different things happen at the same time.
C. Make an unexpected thing happen in an expected situation.
D. Make people laugh at something unusual and out of place.

The Qingming Festival is a traditional Chinese festival, which falls on April 5.
With most trees turning green, spring comes, and the Qingming Festival
approaches, too. The holiday is often marked by Chinese people paying respects
to their ancestors. People often hold some ceremonies at grave sites by bringing
some flowers and sweeping the tombs. Then all the family members sit together
to talk about the family history and share traditional meals.
The Qingming Festival gives all of us an opportunity to show gratitude
to our ancestors. It is because of their achievements that we have a happy life today.
