When I was a teenager, my mother had a hard time finding me onstage(在舞台上) in the dancing show. I was always in the back row out of sight, out of mind. Sometimes the stage lights didn't even reach me, and I ended up dancing in the darkness.
I didn't start out that way. As a kid, I was a confident dancer. At eleven, though, I put on weight. I still danced with energy every day, but I was always placed in the back row. My teachers didn't remember my name half the time.
In high school, I found a ballet class that seemed promising. What I forgot was that ballet
had even more requirements than other kinds of dance. “ You need to lose weight ”my teacher said. Obviously, I wasn't t her star pupil. When they cast(为. . . 选派演员) The Nutcracker one year, every single girl in my class was given a role except me. I could do the same moves they could, but I was still the girl from the back row who didn't have the perfect body shape, and Iwas just not valued. After I saw the cast list, I decided I'd had enough: I walked out of the class and never returned.
Dance was still part of my life, though. I performed in an off-off-broadway show(百老汇演出) during college. I took classes off and on at another school and at my university. Finally, Idecided to start performing in flash mobs(快闪). While I had no interest in making it a career, Ienjoyed my projects.
I ended up doing a big network television show about flash mobs. On the first day of filming, the leaders of the dance team picked the strongest dancers for featured spots(主要的位置). In the audition(试演)I danced well, and I was chosen. The show kept inviting me back. More often than not. I was placed in the featured dancers' group.
There was only one problem: Though I had fun, I still believed in those teachers from childhood instead of myself. In my mind, no matter what anyone said to me, I still thought that Iwas a terrible dancer.

Considering the doctor's advice against Mrs. Logan travelling alone by bus especially as far as Florida, Julian softly suggested she go home and rest. However, Mrs. Logan begged for their help in a weak voice. Moved by her, Julian and Christina decided to drive her to Florida themselves to help realize her wish.

Kindness of Strangers
We rely on a community where helping others is highly appreciated. When we need help, it creates a web that ties us together.
Years ago, I was in the kitchen getting dinner ready when my fourteen-year-old daughter, Cassandra, called me from her room. “Mom, can you help me get downstairs ”She had lung disease and depended on oxygen(氧气) twenty-four hours a day, so it was impossible for her to move up and down the stairs without help. I turned down the stove and ran upstairs to her room. Cassandra let out a sigh and closed her eyes.
“Mom, I wish it wasn't so hard for me to climb the stairs. ”
“I know, honey. We'll try to solve the problem. ”
A month earlier, a company introduced an electric stairlift (座椅电梯). My daughter could use this stairlift to go up and down stairs by herself without anyone helping her. Hearing the perfect product, our whole family was very excited and looking forward to it. The stairlift sounded wonderful because it would greatly improve my daughter's life. Unluckily, we couldn't afford it although John, my husband, even took two jobs to support the family.
So I decided to ask the local charity organization for help once again. They had lent us a wheelchair before we bought one. Maybe they could help with a stairlift, too. Gathering all my courage, I dialed the number of the charity organization. "This is Cassandra's mother. Do you have a stairlift I could borrow ”I asked them hopefully. They hadn't, but they promised to telephone us right away as soon as they got one. Then began our long wait.

When I was in Primary school, our class decided to make "May Day baskets"for our mothers anonymously(匿名). For days, we worked on creating paper baskets, following a magic design shared by our teacher Miss Cosmos.
We finished right on time. Miss Cosmos brought some bright flowers for us to fill our baskets with. We had to wait until the day was nearly over. When the bell rang, we picked our schoolbags, carefully held our offerings of love and ran back home!
I was so excited! I ran as fast as I could down the hill and across the street. After arrival, when deciding to hang the basket lovingly on our door, I was surprised that my flowers were gone! There was only an empty basket! I stood in front of the door and began to cry.
Soon, my mom came to the door to discover the source of the sadness. While she helped me off with my coat and school things, I tried to talk about my terrible situation. As she listened, she wiped (擦拭)my face and touched my hair with the other hand. I fell weakly into her arms.
Then Mom did what I would never forget. She took a knife from the kitchen and my poor little empty basket from the table. We went to our garden where there were some beautiful flowers. She cut one, placed it in my basket, handed me the knife, and then went to the house to prepare dinner. Slowly, as I cut the flowers and arranged them in my paper basket, my gift was ready to be offered. Suddenly, I realized the surprise, so important to my deed, was now totally gone. But at least, I had my May Day basket with flowers.

Alphabetical(字母表的) order was a big problem for Keisha Williams. In every list, on every line, in the lunchroom and the classroom, teachers put all the W’s together. Alice Wilkins was always one place ahead of Keisha.
“You two are going to be friends, ” said the girls’ teacher, Ms. Mubarak, “whether you like it or not. ”
Yeah, right. Could she be friends with Alice “I doubt it, ”Keisha thought. Alice was perfect. She was everything Keisha wasn’t. Alice changed her hairstyle every day. She always wore beautiful clothing. She had polish(指甲油) on her nails. Keisha had plain (普通的) nails, a very ordinary hairstyle—and not to mention her out-of-tyle clothes.
Alice had new fashionable notebooks. Keisha’s notebooks were boring black and white. Keisha complained to her mother that her notebooks were too plain. “They still have paper and lines, ”her mother said. “You don’t need glitter(华丽) to make you smart. ”
Keisha thought Alice’s mother treated her like a grown-up. Alice had a house key and said thatshe always let herself into her apartment. But when Keisha came home, she had to ring for her mother to open the door. And every time, her mother would give her a big bear hug. That’s for babies, Keisha always thought, trying to free herself from her mother’s arms.

52.One possible version:
At one performance, the director of the flash mob company, Staci, finally called me out. “Why do you always hide yourself in the back row You’re born to be a dancer!” asked she gently, with a bright smile on her face. Hearing her words, I was aware that my efforts and love for dancing were seen the whole time. Touched and relieved, I raised my head and nodded to her. She then told me how excellent my movements were and how much she was eager to see my amazing performance. At that moment, an innervoice told me that it’s time to make a change.
I found my courage and stopped hiding in the back. In the following days, I found it quite easy and enjoyable to stand in the front row. And the more I stayed in the front row, the more confidence I had. It is the courage and confidence that brought joy back to my performance and helped me get back the true spirit of dancing I’d lost when I was eleven. The filming ended successfully and it also dawns on me that there’s nothing more important than encouragement and confidence on our long way to success.
