She tried to swim out of its way, but it came at her again. Heather knew she had only one advantage: her surfboard. She threw it as hard as she could in the direction of the shark. There is hope for our planet’s survival. Innovative products are being designed to reduce our dependence on plastic, single-use plastic in particular.
One such innovation comes from international design firm Carlo Ratti Associati with its “Feel the Peel” machine, an experimental rounded juice bar that not only makes freshly squeezed orange juice, but also 3D prints a recyclable bio plastic cup with the leftover orange peels (果皮) .
Designed with global energy company Eni. the juicer is 10 feet tall and topped with a massive dome (圆顶), feeding the juicer with oranges on demand. The dome is mad cup of round tracks that holdup to 1, 500 oranges. A 3D printer is setup in the base of the machine.
The machine goes like magic. When an order is placed, the oranges slide down the tracks to a squeezer, and the juice is then deposited (使沉积) into an “orange peel” bio-plastic cup, ready to enjoy. Meanwhile, the freshly squeezed peels fall down a tube and gather at the bottom of the machine where they are dried, milled and mixed with Poly lactic Acid, creating a bio plastic material The bio plastic is then heated and melted into a filament (细丝) and the 3D printer then creates recyclable bioplastic cups, ready to be filled with freshly squeezed juice.
How cool that is! It seems that Carlo Ratti Associati and Eni have plans to take “Feel the Peel” beyond just orange juice.
“The principle of recycling is a must for today’s objects,” says Carlo Ratti, “Working with Eni, we tried to show recycling in a very tangible way, by developing a machine that helps us to understand how oranges can be us cd well beyond their juice. The next improvement of “Feel the Peel” might include new functions, such as printing fabric for clothing from orange peels.”
28. What can we know about “Feel the Peel” machine
A. It increases the output of orange juice.
B It makes something beyond orange juice.
C. It makes orange juice taste better.
D. It bans the use of single-use plastic.
29. What is the main idea of Paragraph 4
A. The reason for the machine’s popularity.
B. The structure of the machine.
C. The way the machine works.
D. The way to use the machine.
30. What is Carol’s attitude to the future of the machine
A. Pessimistic. B. Cautious. C. Positive. D. In different.
31. What can be the best title for the text

根据第四段“The machine goes like magic. When an order is placed, the oranges slide down the tracks to a squeezer, and the juice is then deposited (使沉积) into an “orange peel” bio-plastic cup, ready to enjoy. Meanwhile, the freshly squeezed peels fall down a tube and gather at the bottom of the machine where they are dried, milled and mixed with Poly lactic Acid, creating a bio plastic material The bio plastic is then heated and melted into a filament (细丝) and the 3D printer then creates recyclable bioplastic cups, ready to be filled with freshly squeezed juice.(这台机器运转起来很神奇。

Surprised scientists say they now have absolute proof that life exists on Jupiter (木星). They’re receiving SOS signals radioed from the destroyed planet! Off the record, NASA higher-ups are analyzing that the signals were caused by the recent strike of Jupiter by comet fragments
“Theses signals can only be coming from an intelligent (智慧的) life form,” says Dr. Lucas Mirsch, a highly respected planetary astronomer with close ties to NASA. “Contrary to what we’ve believed for years, we’re not alone in the solar system. And based on what we can tell from the mathematical pattern of these signals, the residents of the largest planet in our galaxy are asking Earth for help.” Dr. Mirsch says NASA officials have absolutely confirmed that Jupiter is the source of the strange signals, which began in late June—just weeks before the comet fragments began to hit the giant planet.
“NASA has investigated every possibility that this could be a hoax,” says Dr. Mirsch. That is, it may be a trick. “State-of-the-art sensors have traced the point of origin to the exact position of Jupiter’s orbit. There’s simply nowhere else they could be coming from.”
One of the specialists who has analyzed the mathematical pattern of the sounds says he and his staff are 99 percent sure the message is an SOS of some sort. “It’s difficult to explain to the public,” said the expert. “But the frequency with which certain numbers occur in a coded message gives us clues about its general content. Although we can’t give an exact word- for-word translation, we can say with reasonable certainty that life-and-death urgency is being communicated.”
NASA won’t officially comment but Dr. Mirsch says, “There’s not much the agency can do to help. All we can do now is pray that Jupiter survives this terrible strike and that our two worlds can make contact again soon.”
32. What can we learn from paragraph 2
A. The signals come from intelligent creatures.
B. It was believed that we humans were not alone in the solar system.
C. NASA officials are not sure whether the strange signals are from Jupiter.
D. Jupiter had been hit by comet fragments before the strange signals appeared.
33. What does the underlined word “hoax” in paragraph 3 mean
A. Message. B. SOS. C. Lie. D. Reality.
34. What can NASA do with the signals now
A. Nothing but pray. B. Launch new satellites.
C. Send messages to Jupiter. D. Destroy the comet fragments.
35. What is the best title for the text
A. There Is Life Existing on Jupiter B. Comet Fragments Recently Hit Jupiter
C. Jupiter Was Destroyed by Intelligent Life Form D. Scientists Received Signals from Jupiter for Help
A 33. C 34. A 35. D

根据划线词后文“State-of-the-art sensors have traced the point of origin to the exact position of Jupiter’s orbit. There’s simply nowhere else they could be coming from.”
根据最后一段“There’s not much the agency can do to help. All we can do now is pray that Jupiter survives this terrible strike and that our two worlds can make contact again soon.(该机构无能为力。我们现在所能做的就是祈祷木星在这次可怕的撞击中幸存下来,我们的两个世界很快就能再次联系)”可知,NASA只有祈祷。故选A。
根据第一段“Surprised scientists say they now have absolute proof that life exists on Jupiter (木星). They’re receiving SOS signals radioed from the destroyed planet! Off the record, NASA higher-ups are analyzing that the signals were caused by the recent strike of Jupiter by comet fragments

It was a tradition that my sons, their wives, and our grandchildren would spend Christmas Day at our house. So we loaded Jake, our first pet dog, who was diagnosed(诊断为)with cancer, in the back seat of my car, setting out to buy the things at dusk.
Our first stop was at the dollar store to pick up wrapping paper and decorations. As we approached the cashier desk, my husband said, “I’ll be out in the car with Jake.” He returned a few minutes later. “Do you have the car keys ”
“No,” I responded. I searched the passages(通道)in vain before leaving the store as fast as I could. When I got back to the car, my husband was starting the engine. He told me it was our dog Jake that found the car keys. We drove to the grocery store. As we got out of the car, I reached down for my purse and fear stole into me as I realized it wasn’t there. “Wait,” I cried to my husband. “My purse. I think I must have left it in the cart at the dollar store.”
My husband didn’t say anything as we both climbed back in the car. Fifteen minutes later we returned to find another car now at the spot where we had previously parked. The cart was still there, but it was empty. I jumped out of the car and began searching the bushes. It didn’t take long to realize my efforts were useless. My purse was gone. I started to cry.
“Are you alright Ma’am ” a woman about my age asked. I hadn’t even noticed her approach me.
“I lost my purse in the dollar store. Left it in the cart,” I stammered(结结巴巴地). “I had over two hundred dollars in it. Even if we find it, it’ll probably be empty,” I said sadly.
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that. There are still some good people in the world,” she responded. “It still may show up. ”
Paragraph 1:
The woman took my hand and pressed something into my palm (手掌) before closing my hand into a fist(拳头).
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
When we arrived home there was a white car I didn’t recognize in front of our house.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The woman took my hand and pressed something into my palm before closing my hand into a fist. “Merry Christmas,” she whispered in my ear, disappearing into the night. I was so shocked that it took me a minute to open my hand, but when I did, I gasped. I couldn’t believe it; the woman had given me two one-hundred-dollar bills. What really mattered the most to me wasn’t the money, but that I had come across someone special, someone who really cared.
When we arrived home there was a white car I didn’t recognize in front of our house. A stranger stood on our front porch ringing the doorbell. Not only did she find my lost wallet, but it took her half an hour to drive it back to me. This Christmas was a little sad because of Jake’s illness. It was also a little more special, however, thanks to the two angels, each offering kindness to a crazy woman with a sick dog. While I have no way of contacting them personally to thank them for their gifts and explain what their kindness meant to me, I’ve tried to follow their example and pass their kindness forward.

“I’ve lost my vision slowly throughout my life,"Mancina said. It wasn’t until his mid-20s that his condition—an eye disease started to affect his day-to-day life, stopping him from driving and biking. The Michigan native started skating at seven, and got into it more seriously at 13, saying the sport helps him express himself. He stopped skating for a couple of years. This period, the 35-year-old said, was his “lowest point”.
However, mobility training helped him gain confidence. Slowly, he returned to doing what he loved. Mancina started filming short videos of his progress and posting them online and met a new group of people to skate with, gaining enough confidence to return to the streets. “I was just actually trying it, and then realized I was still the same person and that I could still do all the things that I love,” he said.
Now, Mancina wants to create spaces where visually impaired (视力受损的) people can enjoy the sport. “I wanted to build the first skatepark designed for visually impaired people, so I started a foundation called ‘Keep Pushing’ and have been raising money ever since for a few years now,” he said. The park, set to be built in Michigan, will use adaptive methods, such as increasing the size of obstacles, to make it safe and accessible.
“To change the perception of the visually impaired, I started my social media stuff. Some people think it’s crazy for a blind people to skate. It’s not that crazy in my head. I just enjoy skating. I encourage people to think that way—don't let other people decide what you can and can't do. You know. It's all up to you,”Mancina added.

“The principle of recycling is a must for today’s objects” says Carlo Ratti, “Working with Eni, we tried to show recycling in a very tangible way, by developing a machine that helps us to understand how oranges can be us cd well beyond their juice. The next improvement of “Feel the Peel” might include new functions, such as printing fabric for clothing from orange peels.”
28. What can we know about “Feel the Peel” machine

Mirsch says “There’s not much the agency can do to help.
