Who is Agony Aunt?
An agony aunt is a British advice columnist who gives advice to people who send in personal problems to the advice column of a New paper or magazine. The image presented was originally of an older woman offering comforting advice and maternal wisdom.
Nowadays the advisor is not necessarily female. It may turn out to be a male (Agony Uncle) or even a team. In American English, “advice columnist” is used.
