1)教学内容
In this period the students are to listen to the material about the particular problems women have when they want a career of their own. When doing the listening practice, the students should learn to catch the general idea,to catch the key words and the topic sentences. At the same time take some notes when necessary.
The speaking exercise is intended to give students a chance to talk about a woman and let them learn how to describe people orally. It is useful to collect a list of adjectives on the blackboard before the teacher begins this activity.

Step1: Lead-in(6mins)(图片和视频导入)
Show a picture of Li Na.
Watch a video.
Questions to consider:
Is it easy for women to succeed in their careers?
What prevents women from getting the same chances as men in their careers?
1).Who is more likely to get an education, especially in a poor family?
Girls or Boys?
2).Who has more opportunities to get the job? Men or Women?
3).Who has the responsibilities to run the house in traditional view?
Men or Women?
Ask the students to read the words for twice.

Step2. Pre-listening
Present some listening tips.
1) To catch the general idea.
2) To catch the key words and the topic sentences.
Step3. While-listening 1
1. Listen for the first time
Play the tape for students to get the topic sentence of each paragraph and finish the exercises.
1). First, they have more difficulty getting an ( ) than boys.
2). Second, they have more difficulty getting to the top of their chosen ( ).
3). Third, they have to give up their careers to look after ( ) or run ( ).
Check the answers with the whole class.
Suggested answers:

Listen again for the detailed information
Before playing the tape for the second time, ask the students to read through the exercise and fill in the missing words. Ask them to take notes and write down the key words.

Review three problems that women have and ask the question.

Ask students to brainstorm some adjective words to describe a person.

Task2: Interview (Pair work)
Ask students to use these questions to ask their partner: Who is the successful woman he/she admires most?
What does she look like?
Why do you admire her?
What did she do to impress you most?
Why did she choose to…?
What are her strengths /weaknesses?

She chose to …
Her strengths are…
And then, ask students to write down their partner’s answers.
(Two minutes later, ask students to show their interview to the whole class.)
Task3. Ask students to organize the partner’s answers into a short report.
Who is the successful woman your partner admires?
You can begin your report like this: The woman my partner admires is…
Step 6: Conclusion (1min)
Step7: Summary (2mins)
Make a summary.
