It was a Saturday in June. Out of a 16-year-old’s early summer boredom, I had set up a tent in our rural yard and intended to sleep in it, but I stayed in the house to finish watching a movie. It was almost midnight and my parents had been asleep upstairs for hours when someone knocked at the front door. It never occurred to me to answer it.
To my surprise, it was a girl about my age with a bloody cut on her forehead. “Hi. I’m Maria. What’s wrong with you ” I asked her with concern. Awkward and embarrassed, she replied,“I’m Jane. I ...” She hesitated and then asked me carefully, “May I stay here for the night I’ll be off tomorrow morning.” Seeing her uneasiness, I comforted her, “Take it easy, Jane. Stay with me tonight.” I invited her into the house.
Looking around, Jane appeared to have calmed down. “Let me treat your injury first,” I said and she agreed.
I cleaned and bandaged(包扎) her injured forehead and then gave her some bread and bacon to eat. “Want to sleep in my tent ” I asked her and she nodded. Having left her in the bathroom, I went to look for another sleeping bag. When I returned, Jane was seated on the sofa and sadness clouded her face.
Walking across the dark yard, I accompanied Jane into the tent. We lay down side by side. Seized by curiosity and concern, I constantly turned over, wondering what had happened to her and how she came here. Jane seemed to have sensed that and started to speak.
Jane’s father died of cancer years before. Her mother did odd cleaning jobs to raise her. Money was tight but her mother tried to do what she could to satisfy Jane. Several weeks before, Jane accidentally saw a fancy white dress in the store window, which she fell in love with at first sight. She excitedly told her mother about that, who promised to buy it as her birthday gift. From then on, Jane was looking forward to it.
Jane’s 16th birthday came but her mother didn’t get home until the evening.
Having told her story, Jane said she regretted being inconsiderate to her mother.

Ⅰ.Boys and girls,
I’d like to share with you my opinion about future life. With the development of science and technology, life will be greatly different in the future.
First, people will be able to do almost everything at home. They’ll just need to give some simple instructions and robots will complete the tasks. Second, each family will have a flying machine. They’ll be able to travel everywhere. Third, our environment will be much better than now, because some effective measures will be taken to protect it. Earth will become a big beautiful garden. I believe people’s lives will be much easier in the future.40分写作限时满分练(一)

On Wednesday night, it was the closing time of the mall. But there was an hour’s work, at least, to get everything cleaned up. It would be 11:00 p.m. before I finally got home. I hadn’t even had time to have dinner. I was starving. My feet ached. My whole body was filled with tiredness. I couldn’t wait to go to bed. But it would be only 6 hours before the alarm went off at 5:00 a.m. for my day job.
Things had been tight for over a year. My husband Paul’s business had taken a huge hit. I had a full-time job at a day care centre and somehow did my homework for my college class too. Then I had to work nights at the mall. Without me taking my second job, there wouldn’t be enough money to pay the bills, let alone buy any Christmas presents for our 15-year-old daughter, Marie.
I barely even saw Paul and Marie anymore. Marie was growing up, but a teenage girl still needed her mum. I worried about her, about us. Was she eating enough Was she keeping up with her schoolwork I wasn’t afraid of sacrifices. Everyone had to work hard for the family. I knew I was blessed to have two jobs, when millions of people couldn’t find one.
How I hoped to quit my job at the day care centre and obtain a full-time degree!I’d dropped down to one class a term. If I quit that, there was no way I’d find the willpower to try again. Besides, wasn’t I always telling Marie to keep hoping and never give up
My mind went back to the conversation I’d had with Marie earlier. Paul had dropped her off at the mall, where she was getting picked up for a babysitting job. “Remember we’re going Christmas shopping this night,” she said. “Now I’ll even have my own money. See you later.”
The floor was nearly done. The boss asked me to leave.
I opened the back door of the mall and saw Marie outside with a bag of food, smiling.
I pulled her tight against me.

This was it.
Today was the day.
Finally, she would be able to see her again.
It’d been five long years. Her university days now felt like a lifetime ago. When Jennifer thought back to it, she didn’t like the girl she had been then. But when she thought about Yui Fay, that discomfort disappeared and her whole life lit up.
She couldn’t be more excited. She kept imagining their meeting—how they would run towards each other hugging and talking of the old times. As she imagined, happiness spread through her body.
It was time to get dressed. As she was struggling about what to wear, she spotted a red summer dress, which she wore that night in Barcelona. She would never forget that night five years ago. After a hard week at university, she and Yui Fay spontaneously(心血来潮地) bought bus tickets to Barcelona. They slept on the bus and then spent the whole day exploring the city. In the evening, they met some interesting people and spent the whole night singing and dancing. Every day with Yui Fay was fun.
After university Yui Fay went back to her hometown where she took over her family’s business, while Jennifer took the job in an office. They promised to keep in contact. But then life changed. The occasional calls faded with time and they had not talked for over two years. Yet, of all her friends, Yui Fay was still the one she felt the closest to. She knew all her fears, dreams, and her wildest stories. She knew that if something happened, Yui Fay would be there for her. And vice versa. Some friendships just survive the passage of time.
Yet the idea of meeting her was also terrifying. What if ... The idea was too hard to put into words. What if Yui Fay was no longer the person she was so fond of What if this dinner turned out to be nothing more than a meeting between two boring businesswomen
At that moment, her phone rang.
Jennifer took up her phone and looked at the screen.
Just then, someone was coming towards Jennifer.

Ⅰ.Dear friends,
I am delighted to exchange views about graduation celebrations. In my school, the biggest event, no doubt, is the graduation ceremony, usually held after the College Entrance Examination.
The ceremony starts with an address by the head teacher. Then comes the presentation of the diploma. The highlight is to appreciate a short video recording the past school life, which often moves us students into tears. The event is also a special occasion to express our appreciation to the teachers.
For further information about the event, you are welcome to visit our school website. I do hope you will enjoy it.40分写作限时满分练(三)

An eight-year-old child heard her parents talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick, and they had no money left. They were moving to a smaller house because they could not afford to stay in the present house after paying the doctor’s bills. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and there was no one to loan money to them.
When she heard her father say to her tearful mother in despair, “Only a miracle can save him now,” the little girl went to her bedroom and pulled her piggy bank from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully.
Holding the precious piggy bank tightly, she came to the local drugstore. She took a quarter from her bank and placed it on the glass counter.
“And what do you want ” asked the pharmacist(药剂师). “It’s for my little brother,” the girl answered. “He’s really, really sick and I want to buy a miracle.”
“His name is Andrew and he has something bad inside his head. My father says only a miracle can save him. So how much does a miracle cost ”
“We don’t sell it here, child. I’m sorry,” the pharmacist said, smiling sadly at the little girl.
“Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I can try to get some more. Just tell me how much it costs.”
In the drugstore, a well-dressed customer, asked the little girl,“What kind of a miracle does your brother need ” That well-dressed man was Dr Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specialising in neurosurgery(神经外科).
“I don’t know,” she replied, “he’s really sick and my father can’t pay for an operation. So I have brought my savings.”
“How much do you have ” asked the man. “One dollar and eleven cents,” the girl answered bitterly.
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents—the exact price of a miracle for your little brother.”
Dr Armstrong took her money and then they headed for the girl’s home.
The operation was completed successfully without charge.
