盐城国家级自然保护区位于江苏省盐城市，1983年建立，1992年晋升为国家级自然保护区，地处我国东部沿海中部，包括东台、大丰、射阳、滨海、响水五个县（市）的沿海滩涂，海岸线长达586公里，总面积为453000公顷，是我国最大的沿海滩涂湿地类型的自然保护区。保护区面对南黄海，背靠苏北平原，是淤泥质平原海岸的典型代表。
