As a teen myself, I’ve seen the pleasing effects of poetry. Not too long ago, I went on stage to read my poetry at a writing workshop (研讨班), thinking anxiously to myself: Would the audience understand me I felt anxious about what my voice would sound like. At the time, I was 14, and still suffering from a speech disorder (语言障碍) that had affected me since I began talking. As I stood, I experienced a sudden thanks to the blinding lights. I couldn’t see everyone’s face! That made things much easier. I opened my book and began to read.
After the writing workshop, I gained the confidence to read my own work aloud. I learned that writing wasn’t about pronunciation, but about style and the author’s voice. This lesson helped me grow on endless occasions in my life, making me believe that poetry can have an astonishing influence.
One organization that I am part of, WriteGirl, through monthly creative writing workshops, gives girls the skills they need for a brighter future. Although WriteGirl doesn’t only focus on poetry, the organization still uses poetry to teach, inspire girls all across Los Angeles. While the high school graduation rate in Los Angeles is only 80 percent, every year 100 percent of WriteGirl teens not only graduate from high school, but move on to college.
But are these advantages becoming needless with the fast development of technology
It seems the answer is quite the opposite: technology has opened a whole new world for young poets and writers. On KidBlog, young students can post their poems as a blog post on which others can leave their opinions. The Internet makes it easier for viewers to read poetry. Many people are discovering or rediscovering that poetry is fun and creates many opportunities for self-expression.
As I stepped up to read my writing at the workshop, I learned that poetry is about having a voice, and the courage to use it. With this courage, we free ourselves and become able to influence others.

B.It helped her find her own strengths.

58.What can we learn about WriteGirl
A.It is beneficial to girls’ studies. B.It brings out girls’ poetic skills.
C.It encourages girls to teach poetry. D.It helps girls become famous writers.
59.Which of the following may the author agree with
A.Poetry is old-fashioned in modern times.
B.Technology makes creating poetry easier.
C.Technology serves as a useful tool for poetry.
D.The Internet slows down the development of poetry.

Have you ever experienced such an annoying thing as it took so long to open a web page You're watching stops every few minutes, which ruined your internet experience. But it could be a thing of the past. On June 3, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that China would issue licenses (颁发执照)for the commercialization of 5G. It means major telecom carriers will start to provide 5G services.
The "G" in "5G" refers to the generation of mobile network technologies. 1G let us talk to each other, 2G let us send messages, 3G gave us mobile data and the internet, and 4G made all of these things faster.
Now 5G promises much faster data download and upload speeds, and more stable connections. This means that you will be able to download an entire HD movie in seconds and only experience a short delay between sending and receiving data. For example, when you have a video chant with your friend, there is generally a 100 to 200 milliseconds (毫秒) delay with 4G, but 5G will reduce the delay to 1 millisecond or less, which is almost real time.
With a 5G network, the short delay in information exchange will allow driverless cars to run more safely, as they will be able to communicate in real time and avoid potential dangers. Meanwhile, 5G enabled wearable devices will keep doctors constantly updated on the health status of their patients and warn them immediately if there's something wrong. Besides, VR games will become more popular with 5G. The short delay of 5G will make the games feel even more real.
Though 5G will make our lives more convenient, it will not be perfect. For one thing, 5G will not "travel" far. On 4G networks, you can be 10 kilometers away from the nearest transmission (传输) base and barely lose signal. But 5G will only cover about 300 meters, meaning we will need more transmitters so that we can get signals. And in order to use 5G, we will have to buy new products specially designed for 5G that are currently expensive.
61.What is the function of the first paragraph
A.To provide a background of the topic.
B.To offer basic knowledge of the topic.
C.To use an example to support the topic.
D.To draw readers' attention to the topic.
62.According to the passage, what is likely to happen to our life with 5G
A.Doctors can treat more patients.
B.No drivers are needed in the near future.
C.Many advanced technologies will be further improved.
D.Children will hate playing VR games in the real world.
63.What can he found when 5G is compared with 4G
A.4G cover smaller areas. B.4G needs more transmitters.
C.5G signals can travel farther. D.5G costs higher in early stage.
64.Which of the following statements is not true
A.On 5G network, the distance between transmission bases will be longer than on 4G network.
B.We can download movies and songs at a faster speed on 5G network.
C.3G enables us to talk to each other and gives us mobile data.
D.Doctors can keep more updated data with their patients with 5G technology.
65.What is the text mainly about
A.The development of 5G.
B.Challenges that 5G will face.
C.Benefits that people will get from 5G.
D.The difference that 5G will make to our lives.

There exist cruel wars, fighting and sadness in the world today, so it’s necessary to have a good sense of humor just to help us go through difficult times in our lives. Putting a smile on someone’s face when I know they are feeling depressed makes me feel good and warms my heart.
How would you feel if you could not joke around with wife, husband, children, co-workers, neighbors, close friends, or even just someone that you are standing in line with at your corner store I am always saying things that make others smile or laugh, even if I don’t know the person I’m joking around with. My Grandma always found humor in everything she did, even if it was the hardest job anyone could imagine. This not only relieves stress in any situation, but also is common polite to speak to others that are around you.
I know of a few people that don’t have a funny bone in their bodies, as they say. Everyone around them could be rolling on the floor after hearing a great joke and they would sit there without the slightest smile on their faces. They don’t get the joke that makes others laugh. I am busting a gut while they just sit there, looking at me as if I were from outer space. How can people not get a really funny joke
Laughing is essential to keep your stress levels under control. Without humor, we would find ourselves with a lot of psychological problems, or on a lot of medicines to keep us from going crazy. There is too much sadness in this present world. It drives people crazy. We all need to find a way to ignore the sadness and bring a little light into our lives.
Therefore, I believe our best medicine is to get together and tell some jokes and have some fun laughing together.
66.According to the passage, humor is necessary and essential because ______.
A.it can pick up people’s spirit
B.it can help people get on well with others
C.it can help get rid of the cruelty in the world
D.it makes people more confident
67.From the second paragraph, we can know that _______.
A.the writer is funny and polite
B.family members should play tricks on each other
C.the writer’s grandma is humorous
D.we should relieve stress in any situation
68.The underlined phrase “busting a gut” in the third paragraph can replaced by _______.
A.keeping silent B.speaking loudly
C.laughing hard D.explaining carefully
69.In writing the passage, the author mainly intends to _______.
A.talk about his own understanding of humor
B.encourage people to be humorous in daily life
C.introduce a practical way to get through daily life
D.convince people of the power of being optimistic about life
70.What is the author’s attitude towards the present world
A.Favorable B.Positive C.Doubtful D.Unsatisfied
第II卷(非选择题,共25分)
第一部分:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
“Mom, I don’t like you; you’re not pretty now,” my five-year-old son said to me one day. Being a mother of two kids under three has certainly kept me busy. In prioritizing (优先处理) my family’s needs, my own needs are always put on the back burner.
By the end of the day, when I finally have time to think about doing something for myself, I’m too tired. I reach for a glass of wine and sink down into the sofa to watch some mindless TV entertainment. I escape. I let myself daydream.
With each passing day, I lose myself just a little bit more. Long ago, I waved goodbye to the fun-loving person I once was and saw the dull version of my new self.
But something changed on the day my son told me I wasn’t pretty. That night, in the mirror I noticed the light had gone out of my eyes. My kids had magical eyes. They shone with wonder, hope, and adventure. Contrarily, my eyes were dull. I once had light and a journal full of adventures.
Then, I decided to bring light back to my eyes. I listed new things to try before I turned forty years old. The first thing was participating in a Polar Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics. I live in Minnesota and jumping into the middle of a frozen lake seems very appealing. On the morning of the Polar Plunge, I changed into my 1980s workout gear (健身装备). My son said, “Mom, you look pretty.”
But I hesitated when approaching the platform to take the leap into the frozen lake. Finally, I let go of my fear and got ready to embrace the challenge. I felt happy and proud of myself as I came up from the lake. I kept screaming, “I did it!”
Everyone who participated in the Polar Plunge received a blue T-shirt. Whenever I wear that shirt, my sons stated, “Mommy, you’re great. We want to do that, too”. It makes me proud.
Slowly, I am returning. I am showing my family it’s important to dream and achieve it. I reach out to my friends and family. I am rebuilding myself.
