现在进行时的用法
表示说话时正在进行或发生的动作 I’m babysitting my younger brother. It’s raining outside.
表示现阶段一直在进行或不断重复的动作，但说话时该动作并不一定在进行 He’s watching an interesting TV play these days. Are you teaching English in a school
表示即将发生的动作，适用于这种情况的动词主要有：go, come, leave, start, arrive等 I’m going home in half an hour. The train is arriving soon.
现在进行时和always，usually，all the time等连用时，表示一种经常、反复的动作，且说话人往往带有某种感彩(如赞扬、厌烦等) She’s always helping others. You are always talking in class.
过去进行时的用法
1. 表示过去某一时刻正在发生的动作 They were watching TV at ten o’clock last night.
2. 表示过去某一段时间内一直在做的动作 He was doing his homework between 8:00 and 9:00 on Sunday morning.
3. 可描述故事发生的背景：一个长动作发生的时候，另一个短动作突然发生。长动作(延续性动词)用过去进行时，短动作(点动词)用一般过去时 When my mother came back, I was watching TV. When/while I was watching TV, my mother came back.
4. 可表示两个动作同时进行 注：两个动作同时发生，并且都是长动作（延续性动词）时，才能都用过去进行时 While I was watching TV, my mother was cooking.
5. 与always，forever等连用，表示厌恶、埋怨、表扬、喜爱等感彩 My father was always smoking when he was young. She was always thinking of others.
6. 可表示过去将来，多用于go, come, leave, start, take off等表示位移的动词 He said he was leaving for home in a day or two.
