第三部分:阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
A
The oil resources which are left will not last very long. This means that all vehicles such as cars, trains, buses, planes and ships that need oil to work will not be able to run. So it will be necessary to develop a new system of transport which uses a fuel more than oil. Electric vehicles are one possibility. In Britain, most families have at least one car and this car is used every day. It could be that only one person in the family drives the car to work or for shopping. The number of cars on the road which are almost empty perhaps helps to explain why the oil is used up so quickly. The family car is a very useful form of transport but it is also a great waste of energy, especially if it is compared with buses or trains. Much petrol is used by a car which is traveling at 120 kilometers an hour. Clearly, it would be better if there were fewer cars on the road and more speed limits so that the oil which is left will last as long as possible.
About 25% of Britain’s total consumption of energy is domestic—it is used only in the home. Just over 20% is used for transport. Most of the energy is used in industry. It is difficult to suggest any possible energy conservation in industry because many of the suggestions would mean that some people would lose their jobs. It is important that industry produces the same amount of products using the same amount of workers.
Obviously, conservation is not going to be the answer to the energy crisis(危机). The most it can do is to give more time for a better solution to be found. The more time which is available for new sources of energy to be developed, the better it is because there is still a lot of work to be done in order to find suitable, safe methods of producing energy.
56.In Britain, what reason could help to explain why oil is used up very quickly?
A. People use cars every day. B. Most families have at least one car.
C. Many cars on the road are almost empty. D. Electric vehicles are used.
57.Which of the following is true?
A. Compared with buses and trains, the family car is useful and can save energy.
B. A car driving at the speed of 80 kilometers per hour uses half as much petrol as a car traveling at 160 kilometers per hour.
C. It is possible for people to develop vehicles.
D. Limitation of the number of cars on the road and their speed will help the oil last longer.
58.What does the underlined word “domestic” mean in Paragraph Two?
A. For household use. B. On the road. C. Slow driving. D. Fast driving.
59.What is a better way to solve the problem of the energy crisis?
A. Governments should cut down the number of family cars on the road.
B. The speed of vehicles must be limited.
C. New sources of energy should be found and developed.
D. Factories should cut down on production

Perhaps you think you could easily add to your happiness with more money.Strange as it may seem,if you’re unsatisfied, the issue is not a lack of means to meet your desires but a lack of desires—not that you cannot satisfy your tastes but that you don’t have enough tastes.
Real riches consist of well-developed and hearty capacities(能力)to enjoy life. Most people are already swamped(淹没)with things. They eat, wear,go and talk too much. They live in too big a house with too many rooms, yet their house of life is a hut.
Your house of life ought to be a mansion(豪宅),a royal palace.Every new taste, every additional interest, every fresh enthusiasm adds a room. Here are several rooms your house of life should have.
Art should be a desire for you to develop simply because the world is full of beautiful things. If you only understood how to enjoy them and feed your spirit on them, they would make you as happy as to find plenty of ham and eggs when you’re hungry.
Literature, classic literature,is a beautiful, richly furnished room where you might find many an hour of rest and refreshment. To gain that love would go toward making you a rich person, for a rich person is not someone who has a library but who likes a library.
Music like Mozart’s and Bach’s shouldn’t be absent.Real riches are of the spirit. And when you’ve brought that spirit up to where classical music feeds it and makes you a little drunk, you have increased your thrills and bettered them. And life is a matter of thrills.
Sports, without which you remain poor, mean a lot in life.No matter who you are,you would be more human, and your house of life would be better supported against the bad days,if you could, and did, play a bit.
Whatever rooms you might add to your house of life, the secret of enjoying life is to keep adding.

Most kids don’t regularly use sunscreen, although many of them suffer from sunburns, which increases the risk of developing skin cancer later in life, according to a recent study.
Most of the study participants said they liked the appearance of a tan(晒黑), and the number of children who said they spent time in the sun to get a tan increased over the three-year period.
Lead author Stephen Dusza said the findings showed the importance of finding effective ways to educate children of this age group about sun safety and the potential dangers of more exposure to ultraviolet(紫外的)light.
“When you ask kids or teens about tanning, they say people look better with a tan, so trying to get them to limit this behavior is a difficult message to get across, ”Dusza said.
“This is the age group we need to make an impact on, because it gets harder to make an impact as they get into their later teen and early adult years, ”said Dr. Jonette Keri from the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. “It’s a time when parents don’t have much control and kids do what they want. ”
Skin cancer is on the rise among young adults. “We need to identify what these kids think so that we can target their thinking and try to change their habits, ”said Keri, “The problem is the idea of a tan being beautiful is perpetuated on television and in the media, and it’s very hard to break that. ”
“Maybe we can get them thinking about their skin, and get them to examine it carefully and know what changes to look for, so if they do go tanning or are out in the sun, they can at least be aware of the signs of skin cancer so they can get treated early, ”she added.
67. What can we learn from Dusza’s words?
A. Kids consider tanning a kind of beauty.
B. Kids know a lot about sun safety in fact.
C. Adults don’t know what the kids think.
D. It’s difficult for kids to learn about skin cancer.
68. What makes it difficult to break the children’s idea of a tan being beautiful?
A. Parents’ control on children. B. Lacking in education.
C. Showing of tan on TV and other media.
D. Children having too much freedom.
69. The underlined word “perpetuated” in Paragraph 6 may mean“ ”.
A. analyzed B. Ignored C. replaced D. fixed
70. What does the study in the text show?
A. Most young children don’t know about sunscreen.
B. Parents care little about their children’s tanning.
C. Kids try to get a tan not for health but for beauty.
D. Kids must be stopped from spending time in the sun.
第四部分 任务型阅读(共10小题;每小题1分, 满分10分)
  请认真阅读下列短文, 并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入一个最恰当的单词。注意: 每个空格只填一个单词。
How to Take a Nap
Whether you think you need daytime rest or not, picking up a nap habit—or continuing to make time for one—is a smart, healthy move. Consider the evidence: The Mayo Clinic says naps promote relaxation, reduce tiredness, better mood and recover alertness(机敏). A 2010 British study found that compared to getting more nighttime sleep or drinking more coffee, a mid-day nap was the best way to cope with the mid-afternoon slump(萎靡).
The Harvard Health Letter says that several studies have shown that people remember new information better when they take a nap shortly after learning it. And, unbelievably, a 2007 study of nearly 24, 000 Greek adults in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that people who napped regularly had a 37 percent reduced risk of dying from heart disease compared to people who didn’t nap.
To get the most out of your rest, follow these tips.
How long to sleep: Naps provide different benefits depending on how long they are, says MentalFloss.com. A 20-minute nap will promote alertness and concentration; a 90-minute nap which includes deeper stages of sleep, can strengthen creativity. The danger zone is when you’re somewhere in between, because waking up in the middle of a sleep cycle can lead to sleep inertia(惯性). So stick to 20 or 90 minutes for maximum benefits. If you wake up from a nap feeling confused or more tired, it’s likely that your timing was just off.
What time to sleep: Prevention. com says that you experience a natural dip in body temperature(the same kind that makes you feel sleepy at night)between 1 pm and 3 pm. A power nap at this time can promote alertness for several hours and, for most people, won’t affect being able to fall asleep at night.
How to get comfortable: MentalFloss. com says it takes about 50 percent longer to fall asleep sitting up than lying down. (That’s why we sleep so poorly on planes and trains!) Pick a dark, cozy place that’s not too warm or too chilly. Prevention. com recommends napping on the couch instead of in bed, so you won’t snooze for too long.
Surprisingly, the best place to sleep may be a hammock(吊床)if you have one. A Swiss study published last year found that people fell asleep faster and had deeper sleep when they napped in a hammock than in a bed. That same rocking motion that causes babies to sleep works wonders for grown-ups, too.
Consider a “caffeine nap”: It sounds strange, but drinking coffee right before a nap may be the perfect aid for maximum alertness. Since caffeine takes 20 to 30 minutes to take full effect, you’ll feel even more alert after your 20-minute nap.

作文
We all know that our parents’ love for us is beyond description. Wherever we are, they love us for no reasons, but how do we show our love for them in return?
As the picture shows, the boys know the birthday of their own, their friends’ and even their idols’ birthdays very well. Yet when asked about their parents’ birthdays, neither of them can give a correct answer. Sure enough, this picture just gives us an extreme example. But what the picture tries to tell us is that we shouldn’t ignore our parents’ love. They sacrifice so much bringing us up! They work hard to provide us with all that we need, but seldom do we ever think of how we can repay them for their love.
What this picture reminds me of is that when we receive our parents’ love, we shouldn’t just take it for granted. Instead, we should try our best to think what we can do in return. We should work hard at our lessons, in the first place, to live up to their expectations, which I believe will make them happy.
