Tanja Babich is a TV presenter (主持人) in Chicago, America. Her daughter is ten years old. Like many students, she had to take online classes. However, she was having a problem studying online. During the May Day holiday this year, Yan’an, in Shaanxi province, welcomed 1. 6 million visitors. Tian’anmen Square, Jinggang Mountains, the site (遗址) of the Zunyi Conference in Guizhou province are among the most popular places of interest for visitors.
The number of red tourism (旅游) visitors aged 25 and below was 19.1% of the total travelers during the holiday. Group said, in the first half of this year, red tourism visitors born after 2000 were up 2.5 times compared with the same period (时期) in 2019.
More people chose red tourism places when the Communist Party of China celebrated the100th anniversary of its founding. Red tourism lets people learn more about the history of the Party. Also, visiting these sites can be part of patriotic (爱国的) education.
Zhao Yanping, a 67-year-old man from Zhejiang province, took a trip in Yan’an in early May. He said, “I’m quite lucky that I was born after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, but I never forget what my father told me about his hard life. And he always told me to be grateful to the Party, without whom we could not live such a good life now.”
Red tourism also drives local (当地的) development. Because of more visitors, many people living near the sites open their own hotels or restaurants. They can make more money than before.
