I was very happy to go as I had never been to a safari park before. It's a very interesting park, full of wild animals running freely.
When we got there, we bought our tickets and drove into the park. We were very excited at the thought of going to see the lions. But to get to the lions' place we had to go through the monkeys' land first. And that was an unforgettable experience because they climbed all over the car, ate apples and bananas, and threw all kinds of things at us. They seemed very unfriendly.
Anyway,we went on our way to the lions' place where we had to lock ourselves in the car as we knew lions could be dangerous. A lion came up very close to us. Then it was on the bonnet (车盖). It looked calm but we felt terrified. Aunt Emily, who isn't very brave, started to call for help. The kids started crying. Only my brother, George, stayed calm. I sounded the horn (喇叭) but nobody heard us.
In the end a guard arrived in his car, and the lion just got off our car and started smelling the guard's hand as if nothing was the matter.

Travel allows us to experience the world. But as we travel, we are also leaving our footprint on every place we visit. This is why culturally immersive (沉浸) travel is so important. Because the wrong kind of travel negatively affects the world. One of the reasons we started this blog (博客) was to help others travel better and feel comfortable getting off the beaten path, interacting with locals, and take you “Beyond the traditional Bucketlist”, if you will.
People who only get 2-weeks off per year are often just looking for an easy destination with a beach to relax on. This isn’t travel. This is a vacation. But “Immersive Travel” or “Cultural Travel” is an entirely new type of trip. It is about experiencing and preserving the various traditions around the world. It’s about being open to new experiences and willing to step into another’s shoes. Cultural travel is jumping in with both feet and leaving your idea about what your trip should be behind you. It’s eating local dishes and sleeping in guesthouses. It’s building genuine connections with locals. It’s learning about the history of a country and leaving your trip with a greater understanding of the place you came to see and the people who live there.
Often times in today’s age, “travelers” will visit a country just to take some photos of the famous sights to post on Instagram or to drink the night away, or even just to relax on a tropical beach. But that kind of vacation can be harmful to the very communities you’re traveling to.
Besides supporting the local communities and helping the preservation of local customs and traditions, you’ll also experience some personal benefits through the culturally immersive travel. It’s impossible for you to experience cultural travels with a closed mind. You’ll get to know different cultures intimately and understand them a lot better. You’ll also become less judgmental of others the more you travel.
28. What’s the author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph
A. To describe the importance of cultural travel.
B. To stress the negative influence of travel.
C. To recommend the culturally immersive travel.
D. To convey his unique feelings about cultural travel.
29. According to the author, today's travelers tend to_________.
A. establish close connections with the locals during the travel
B. choose a tourist attraction for adventure and exploration
C. show more interest in the history of a travel destination
D. take some photos of the famous sights to post on the social media
30. What can be inferred about the culturally immersive travel
A. It is focused on studying local people's lifestyle.
B. Its travelers should be open-minded and understanding.
C. It is a specific way to make more judgments of other cultures.
D. It’s harmful to preserving local traditions and customs.
31. Where is the text probably taken from
A. A blog post. B. A historic magazine.
C. A travel brochure. D. An encyclopedia website.
D
Teenagers’ fitness is now a major concern, to which physical exercise is very important. It reduces stress and improves fitness. Exercise makes your body strong, and helps you to keep the right body weight. Sports scientist Dr.Helen Lopez offers the following advice to teenagers: “Firstly, you need to find out your present level of fitness. Then you can design a programme that will help you become healthier.”
Dr Lopez suggests that there are three levels of fitness that need a change of lifestyle. “Overweight” means that the person gets very little exercise and often has a serious weight problem. “Inactive” means that the person does not join in many physical activities, but is not seriously overweight. “Active” refers to people who take part in sports and other physical activities, but do not have a high fitness level.
According to Dr Lopez, overweight teenagers should keep active to keep healthy. Ride a bike, play volleyball or basketball for a while, and go for a twenty-minute walk each day. All these will help to burn up calories(卡路里). Inactive teenagers should do similar activities, but add some bending and stretching exercises, such as push-ups and sit-ups, starting with twenty of each a day. “Inactive people can take a little more exercise than overweight people because their bodies are stronger,” said Dr Lopez. The same principle applies to active teenagers.
Dr Lopez suggests one hour a week or more on running and other forms of intensive exercise, together with fifteen minutes a day spent on stretching and bending activities. “These are really important in order to prevent injuries,” Dr Lopez said. Some weight-training and other body-strengthening exercises could also be planned in the programme in order to increase the person’s strength.
32. What can we learn from the passage
A. Active people always have a high fitness level.
B. Overweight people always take more exercise.
C. Inactive teenagers are not seriously overweight.
D. Keeping fit means changing teenagers’ lifestyle.
33. Which of the following statements is NOT the reason why physical exercise is important
A. It can make the teenagers grow taller.
B. It can help teenagers become healthier.
C. It can help to burn up calories.
D. It can increase teenagers’ strength.
34. In order to prevent injuries, you should do some ________ exercises.
A. walking B. stretching and bending C. riding D. weight-training
35. What is the best title for the passage
A. Teenagers’ fitness B. Overweight teenagers
C. Different lifestyles D. Doing exercises
