It is celebrated every year on the first day of April. It has been popular since the 19th century. The day is not a national holiday in any country, but it is well known in Europe, Australia, Brazil and the United States. On this day, people play jokes and hoaxes on each
other. The jokes and their victims are known as “April fools”.

How did you feel when you are fooled
1. fool n.蠢人;傻瓜 v.愚弄
It’s impolite to fool other people.
He is a fool. He doesn’t know what to do.
fool的形容词是foolish,意为“愚蠢的”。
April Fool’s Day意为“愚人节”,时间是4月1日。
【搭配】与fool 有关的短语搭配:
make a fool of sb.愚弄某人;
play the fool装傻,扮丑相(以逗人笑,但往往惹人恼怒);
fool sb. into doing sth.欺骗某人干某事。
Language points
2. get dressed为动词短语,意为“打扮起来”,相当于be dressed或dress up。
如果后面有表示“衣服/颜色”的名词做宾语时,
需用介词in,即“get/be dressed in+衣服/颜色”。
例:小女孩走进卧室打扮起来。

3. embarrassed adj.窘迫的;害羞的
He was embarrassed in the embarrassing situation.
