S: Good morning, Doctor.
D: Good morning, Mr. Smith. What’ the trouble?
S: I feel rather under the weather. I’ve got a headache and a sore throat, and my chest hurts.
D: How long have you been like this?
S: Two or three days. At first, I had running nose and I sneezed a lot. Now it’s stuffed up, and I start to cough.
D: Let me have a look at your throat. Please open your mouth and say “Aah”.
S: “Aah”.
D: Thank you. That will do. Your throat is inflamed. Now, let me take your temperature. Put this thermometer under your armpit and let me feel your pulse. Let me check your lungs and heart. Would you please unbutton your jacket? Thank you. Breathe in and out. Turn around please.
S: Is it OK? Do I need an X-ray?
D: No, that won’t be necessary. I’d like to have your blood count though. Take this slip to the laboratory, please.

S: Here is the laboratory report.
D: Thank you. Your blood count is normal. It’s nothing serious, just a bit of bronchitis. I’ll prescribe three days complete rest. S: Doctor, I’m going to a guided tour tomorrow. I can’t miss it.
D: That’s out of question, I’m afraid. You are in no condition to be outside. You must stay in bed.
S: I will. Doctor’s orders.
D: I will give you an injection to bring down the temperature. Would you like to try some Chinese medicine?
S: OK.
D: Take the pills twice a day. Once in the morning, once in the evening. Three pills each time.
S: Could you give me something to relieve my headache?
D: OK. I’ll prescribe some pain killer. Take one when you feel really bad. Don’t take more than three tablets a day.
S: All right. Thank you.

本课的授课对象为初二数学实验班学生,共39人,对英语学习和对与实际生活中联系紧密的话题具有较浓厚的学习兴趣,大部分学生能具有良好的学习习惯,能够积极参与课堂。在语言能力方面,已经具备了一定的与本话题相关的词汇量。在听力理解方面,已经具备在教师的引领下听懂所选的对话大意,获取其主要信息的能力。在口语表达方面,具备能够利用课上所学内容来编相似话题的简单对话的能力。
