afraid作形容词,意为“可怕的;害怕的 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )”。常构成词组:be afraid of 害怕某物。of 后常接名词、代词宾格和v.-ing形式。例如:
I am afraid of snakes.我害怕蛇。
I am afraid of going out at night.我害怕在晚上外出。
