If you have a chance to go to Finland(芬兰), you will probably be surprised to find how “foolish” the Finnish people are.
Take the taxi drivers for example. Taxis in Finland are mostly high-class Benz with the money of two US dollars a kilometer. You can go anywhere in one, tell the driver to drop you at any place, say that you have some business to do, and then walk off without paying. The driver would not show the least sign of being nervous and worried.
The dining rooms in all big hotels not only serve their guests, but also serve outside diners. Hotel guests have their meals free, so they naturally go to the free dining rooms to have their meals. The most they would do to show their good faith is to wave their registration card to the waiter. With such a relaxing check, you can easily use any old registration card to take a couple of friends to get the meals free.
The Finnish workers are paid by the hour. They are very much on their own as soon as they have agreed with the boss on the pay. From then on, they just say how many hours they have worked and they will be paid accordingly.
With so much carelessness in everyday life, surely Finland must be a heaven to those who love to take “petty advantages”(小便宜). But the strange thing is, all the taxi passengers would always come back to pay their fare after they have done their business; not a single outsider has ever been found in the free hotel dining rooms. And workers always give an honest record of the exact hours they put in.
As you can see, living in such a society has turned everyone into a real “gentleman”. In a society of such high moral(道德) practice, what need is there for people to be on guard against others
4. We can learn from the second paragraph that _______ in Finland.
A. all the taxis are very inexpensive and comfortable
B. passengers only pay two US dollars for a taxi ride
C. it’s normal for passengers to pay for the drivers late
D. taxi drivers don’t know the ways in city very well
5. It can be inferred from the passage that _______ in Finland.
A. hotel guests often get meals free with their friends outside
B. the bosses pay the workers according to their performance
C people are usually not so smart or careful in daily life
D. the workers are always honest with their working hours
6. From the passage, we can know that the “foolish” Finnish people are actually very _____.
A. honest B. gentle C. attractive D. intelligent
7. Which of the following best describes the author’s opinion
A. You can’t judge a book by its cover. B. Morality is the golden chain of society.
C. A friend in need is a friend indeed. D. Where there is a will, there is a way.
C 5. D 6. A 7. B

I have well travelled in Spain and visited a good number of Spanish cities. However, no city will ever quite match Cadiz, where I spent six months studying as a student.
Before that, I knew very little about Cadiz but I decided to take a risk and explore it. Well, the risk certainly paid off.
Cadiz, Europe’s oldest city, hangs off Spain’s southern coast on a peninsula (半岛), surrounded almost entirely by water. As you leave the shady streets of the historical old city and explore more of it, you are met with vast areas of the blue Atlantic Ocean and white sandy beaches, which in my opinion are some of the best in Spain!
One of the great things about Cadiz is the wonderful, rich culture of food and drink. There are little tapa (小吃) bars lining every street and most will serve tapas for around 1.50—2 euros, meaning you can try a whole variety of Andalusian dishes.
Cadiz has also come to be known as “The Singing City”. It comes from the annual carnival (狂欢节), one of the biggest in Europe. A very large number of people go to Cadiz to see it. During those ten days, Cadiz’s narrow streets are filled with the sound of singing as musical groups fight for a place in the contest, which takes place on the last Saturday of carnival. The songs perfectly show the sense of humor of the Gaditanos, who, besides being so warm and welcoming, are said to have the best sense of humor in Spain!
That is my experience of Cadiz: a wonderful, typically Andalusian city which is often overlooked but well worth a visit. I am currently living in Huelva, just a short drive from Cadiz, so please pay attention to my next sharing!
8. What does the word “that” underlined in paragraph 2 refer to
A. Competing in a match. B. Studying in Cadiz.
C. Teaching a student. D. Becoming an explorer.
9. What does the third paragraph mainly talk about
A. The geographic position and scenery of Cadiz.
B. The beautiful life of people living in Cadiz.
C. The unknown origin and long history of Cadiz.
D. The author’s complex attitude towards Cadiz.
10. Why is Cadiz called “The Singing City”
A. A number of local people enjoy humorous songs.
B. Many grand carnivals attract well-known singers.
C. Singing is everywhere during a big annual carnival.
D. A lot of singing competitions take place each year.
11. From which is the text most probably taken
A. A geography textbook. B. A post on the Internet.
C. A travel brochure. D. An encyclopedia.
B 9. A 10. C 11. B

根据画线词上文“I have well travelled in Spain and visited a good number of Spanish cities. However, no city will ever quite match Cadiz, where I spent six months studying as a student. (我在西班牙旅行过很多次,去过很多西班牙城市。然而,没有哪个城市能与加的斯相提并论,我曾在那里学习了6个月)”和下文“I knew very little about Cadiz but I decided to take a risk and explore it. (我对加的斯所知甚少,但我决定冒险去探索它)”可知,作者表达的是在自己去加的斯学习之前,对它了解很少,that指代的是“在加的斯学习”。故选B项。
【9题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第三段“Cadiz, Europe’s oldest city, hangs off Spain’s southern coast on a peninsula (半岛), surrounded almost entirely by water. As you leave the shady streets of the historical old city and explore more of it, you are met with vast areas of the blue Atlantic Ocean and white sandy beaches, which in my opinion are some of the best in Spain! (加的斯是欧洲最古老的城市,坐落在西班牙南部海岸的一个半岛上,几乎完全被水包围。当你离开历史悠久的老城的荫凉街道,探索更多的时候,你会遇到广阔的蓝色大西洋和白色的沙滩,在我看来,这是西班牙最好的)”可知,本段主要介绍了加的斯的地理位置:位于西班牙南部海岸的一个半岛上,以及它的风景:老城的荫凉街道、大西洋和沙滩。故选A项。
根据第五段中“Cadiz has also come to be known as “The Singing City”. It comes from the annual carnival (狂欢节), one of the biggest in Europe. (加的斯也被称为“歌唱之城”。它来自一年一度的狂欢节,这是欧洲最大的狂欢节之一)”和“During those ten days, Cadiz’s narrow streets are filled with the sound of singing as musical groups fight for a place in the contest, which takes place on the last Saturday of carnival. (在这十天里,加的斯狭窄的街道上充满了歌唱的声音,因为音乐团体在比赛中争夺一席之地,比赛在狂欢节的最后一个星期六举行)”可知,加的斯的这个名称源自一年一度的狂欢节,那时城市里到处都是歌声。故选C项。
【11题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“That is my experience of Cadiz: a wonderful, typically Andalusian city which is often overlooked but well worth a visit. I am currently living in Huelva, just a short drive from Cadiz, so please pay attention to my next sharing! (这就是我在加的斯的经历:一个美妙的、典型的安达卢西亚城市,经常被忽视,但非常值得一游。我现在住在韦尔瓦,离加的斯只有很短的车程,所以请关注我的下一个分享)”可知,文章实际上是作者在网上分享的在加的斯的经历,他希望读者关注自己的下一个分享。由此推知,文章应该来自网上的一个帖子。故选B项。
D
Ecotourism(生态旅游): A Different Way to Travel
Are you attracted to obscure(偏远的)places Do you prefer to vacation away from other tourists Are you careful to take only memories and to leave only footprints If you answered yes to more than one of these questions, you just might be an ecotourist.
Ecotourists are people who want to experience the unspoiled natural world and leave it that way when they return home. This trend started in the 1990s and ecotourism is now growing three times faster than the tourism industry at large. The Ecuador’s remote Amazon Basin(盆地) is contributing to that expansion, and it gives a snapshot of what ecotourism looks like.
At the Ecolodge, a small group of cabins(小屋) sits Kapawi Ecolodge in the middle of the Achuar people’s reserve(保护区) and is only reached by air. From here, visitors can explore parts of the Amazon rainforest seen by few outsiders. As they do local Achuar guides explain how the forest is like their supermarket, where they find food, clothing, medicine and tools. As a result, tourists learn to appreciate the local culture as well as the natural environment.
The owners of Kapawi pay monthly rent to the Achuar people, but they also train the community to run and manage the lodge. They have agreed on a plan to turn the operation over to the Achuar completely by 2011.The owners are working to make ecotourism benefit and empower the local people.
You probably won’t start your own ecolodge, but you can be an ecotourist if you follow these guidelines: Protect the environment; Support local businesses; Respect the local customs and traditions.
The world is full of fascinating places to visit. As an ecotourist, you can enjoy them yourself and make sure that they remain beautiful for future generations as well.
12. According to the text, the ecotourists should be________.
A. those who like to experience the easily-remembered natural environment
B. those who like to go to their travelling places by hiking
C. those who prefer an undamaged natural world and remain what it used to be
D. those who prefer unique natural environment of cultural relics
13. At the Kapawi ecolodge, visitors can’t________.
A. explore the Amazon rainforest
B. reach there by air
C. live in the Achuar reserve
D. see many travelers from outside
14. Which of the words is closest in meaning to the word “snapshot” in the second paragraph
A. Idea. B. Aim.
C. Adventure. D. Opportunity.
15. We can learn from the passage that________.
A. the Kapawi Ecolodge will continue to run and manage the lodge after 2011
B. the Kapawi Ecolodge owners are the Achuar in favor of ecotourism
C. the Achuar people have benefited a lot by collecting money from ecotourists
D. the owners of Kapawi encourage tourists to appreciate the Achuar culture
C 13. D 14. A 15. D
根据第二段中的“Ecotourists are people who want to experience the unspoiled natural world and leave it that way when they return home. ”(生态旅游者是那些想要体验未受破坏的自然世界,并在回家后让环境保持原样。)可知,生态旅游者喜欢未遭破坏的自然环境并保持它原本的样子。故选C。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中的“At the Ecolodge,a small group of cabins sits in the middle of the Achuar people’s reserve and is only accessible by air.”(在Ecolodge,一小群小屋坐落在阿丘阿尔人的保留区中央,只能乘飞机到达。)
故选A。
根据第四段“The owners of Kapawi pay monthly rent to the Achuar people, but they also train the community to run and manage the lodge. They have agreed on a plan to turn the operation over to the Achuar completely by 2011.The owners are working to make ecotourism benefit and empower the local people.”(Kapawi的拥有者每月向Achuar人支付租金,但他们也培训社区居民经营和管理小屋。
Have you ever wondered what you can do visiting Disney in Florida There are two activity possibilities associated with Disney in Florida.___16___,and the other is Disney Cruise Line, docked in Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic Coast. This article provides some ideas to help you out.
Choose when you want to go. Disney recommends going during the spring and fall. The best times to go to Walt Disney World are:
Mid-November through mid-December (except the week of Thanksgiving). The weather is usually cool but pleasant, the Christmas decorations are up, special events are running, and the attendance is usually moderate. Expect crowds on Saturdays, especially at the Magic Kingdom.___17___, but this doesn’t necessarily translate into huge crowds during early December.
Second week of January through mid-February. It’s cool at this time of year.___18___.However, some rides will be closed at this time of year. The first week of January can be busy due to extended holiday vacations and the Walt Disney World Marathon. Avoid any holiday weekends.
First three weeks of May.___19___. Crowds and hotel prices are suitable. Memorial Day weekend will be more crowded, but often not as bad as you might expect.
___20___. It will be extremely hot, and this is peak hurricane season. Plan on taking afternoons off and visiting water parks. Crowds are low. A. One is Walt Disney World in Orlando
B. So many tourists go there to enjoy themselves
C. The weather is warm in May
D. Disney’s resorts typically fill up early for all of December

根据上文“Mid-November through mid-December (except the week of Thanksgiving). The weather is usually cool but pleasant, the Christmas decorations are up, special events are running, and the attendance is usually moderate. Expect crowds on Saturdays, especially at the Magic Kingdom.(11月中旬到12月中旬(感恩节那一周除外)。

A all the taxis are very inexpensive and comfortable
B. passengers only pay two US dollars for a taxi ride

D. taxi drivers don’t know the ways in city very well
5. It can be inferred from the passage that _______ in Finland.

B. the bosses pay the workers according to their performance
C. people are usually not so smart or careful in daily life
D. the workers are always honest with their working hours
