Space order
Our new apartment was away from the entrance to the courtyard. To reach the kitchen, one had to pass through a small windowless anteroom. Anybody inside could easily look through the chinks without being observed. Against the wall opposite the entrance to the kitchen was a large stove. Right next to the stove was a bench with a bucket of water resting on it. Past the bench, in the middle of the wall, was a door leading to the only other room. To the right of the door stood a cupboard. Next to the cupboard was old Helena's bed.

The nights that my mother was home were nightmares. She sat on the living room couch with a case of Budweiser, just drinking, listening to music, and talking to herself. The day after, I would find my mother sitting on the couch surrounded by beer cans and slumped over one corner of the couch. The record player would still be running.

Instant noodles are tasty and cheap. They are easy to prepare—put them into hot water, wait for a few minutes, and then they are ready!

Instant noodles are popular in Asian countries. In Japan, it is a favourite lunchtime option for office workers. In South Korea, spicy flavoured instant noodles are popular. In many TV series, you can see people sitting round the table and picking noodles directly from a pot. Not only Asian countries, but some Western countries also have an instant noodle craze.
Instant noodles must be the food that you can find anywhere in the world!
