Language practice.
I’ll ask some volunteers to come to the front, one at a time. Then I’ll whisper an activity in the volunteer’ ears and ask him/her to act it out. The class guess what the volunteer can/can’t do.
Practice

情态动词 can 的用法
一、情态动词can的概述
1. 情态动词不能单独作谓语,只能和动词一起构成谓语。
2. 情态动词没有人称和数的变化。
3. 表示说话人的语气和情感。
4. 意为“能;会”。
二、情态动词can 的用法
1. 表示具备的能力,指现在、过去无论什么时候想做就能做到的能力。如:
He can speak English.
2. 表示建议和请求,多用在口语中,意为“可以,能够”,用在疑问句中用来提
出请求,用于否定句中表示不允许。如:
You can’t play basketball.
3. Can you... “请你……好么 ”表示说话人的请求;Can I... “我可以……吗 ”
用来征求对方是否允许自己做某事。如果在句末加上please一词,就显得更有
礼貌了。如:
Can you help me, please

三、句式变化
1. 否定句:在can 后面加not,缩写为can’t。如:
He can’t swim.
2. 一般疑问句:把can提到主语前面。如:
(1)表示能力时:
肯定回答: Yes, I can.;否定回答: No, I can’t.
(2)表示请求时:
肯定回答可用OK或Certainly,否定回答可用Sorry。如:
—Can you look after my books
—Certainly!
