Stratford-upon-Avon
Stratford upon Avon is a small town in the middle of England and is famous because it is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, the greatest English playwright. Stratford is set in the beautiful countryside on the River Avon. At the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre, you can see Shakespeare’s plays like Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet as well as other plays. Stratford is a historic town and well worth visiting for a taste of Old England.

My grandparents were born in the countryside. They both came from a small village in the south of China. They went to school when they were young and they both worked on a farm. They didn't have a television but they listened to the radio. They got married when my grandmother was 22 and my grandfather was 24. They usually travelled by bicycle and sometimes they travelled by train. They stayed on the farm all their lives. When my father left the village,my grandparents visited him in the city every year.

  经过前面的学习,我们知道大多数动词的过去式的变化规律为:“动词原形+ed”但是在英语中不符合上述变化规律的动词也很多,它们有其特殊的变化形式。这种动词称为不规则动词。这种动词的变化没有规律,而要靠同学们单独记忆。下面将常见的不规则动词的过去式总结如下:

◆ many, much, a lot of和lots of的辨析
这几个单词都表示“多”的意思。
many修饰可数名词。例如:Have you seen many English films
much修饰不可数名词。例如:I haven't done much work today.
a lot of 相当于lots of, 既可以修饰可数名词,也可以修饰不可数名词。例如:
I don't have a lot of/lots of money.
I have a lot of/lots of friends.

【特别提醒】as well as 与as well的区别
as well as是连词词组,用来连接句子中并列的词、短语和句子等。而as well是副词词组, 常用于肯定句句尾,表示“还,也”等意思。

worth作为形容词,常与be动词连用,be worth后可接名词、代词或动名词形式,表示“值得……”;常用句式:be (well) worth doing sth. (很)值得做某事。

worth后的动名词与句子的主语有动宾关系,但该动名词只能用主动形式表示被动意义。

be worth + n. 当名词为金钱时,意为“…… 值得……”。
be worth doing sth. 意为“某事值得被做”。例如:
