1. Ss can talk about Su Hai’s and Mike’s birthdays and activities correctly;
2. Ss can find the rules of ordinal numbers, especially like “eight, nine, five, twelve, twenty, thirty, twenty- one” and so on ;
3. Ss can read the passage about Mike’s friends’ birthdays and listen to the passage about Su Hai’s friends’ birthdays;
4. Ss can do a survey about birthdays in groups, and do a report about it.
5. Ss can talk about their parents’ birthdays and activities.

We talk about birthdays today. Do you want to know sth. about my birthday? Please look at the pictures and try to ask me some questions.

You know my birthday. I want to know Su Hai and Mike’s birthday. Can you tell me? Look at the table, please ask and answer with your partner.
Step3 Meet with the new language

Su Hai’s birthday is on the eleventh of May.
And my birthday is on the fourth of October.
Read the sentences in your group. How to express birthdays?
We express our birthdays by using numbers and months. But what are these numbers?

Yes. They are ordinal numbers. Look at these numbers again. What rules can you find? Talk in two.
Yes, you find that. We add “th” after the cardinal numbers. (板书:加th从4起)

You find the rules of ordinal numbers. Where is Mike? He is introducing his friends to us. Read the passage in your groups and try to circle the ordinal numbers.
