Language points
1. As a mountain climber,Aron is used to taking risks.
作为一名 登山者，Aron习惯于去冒险。
be used to (doing) sth.习惯于(做)某事,to是介词,后接名词/代词/动名词,be也可换成get,become。
risk既可用作可数名词，也可用作不可数名词，意为“风险、冒险”。take risks 冒险 at the risk of 冒着可能…...的危险
e.g. I'm used to eating eggs for breakfast.
我习惯早餐吃鸡蛋。
You don’t have to take risks because of this.
你不必因为这个而冒险。
辨析：be/get/become used to doing，used to do与be used to do
be/get/become used to doing “习惯于做……”，前者强调状态；后两者强调渐变的过程，其中to为介词，后接动名词doing。 He has been used to walking to school.他已经习惯于步行去上学。
used to do “过去常常”，后接动词原形。 He used to go to work on foot.
他过去常常步行上班。
be used to do/for doing “被用于做……”是被动语态。 He used his knife to cut off his arm.＝His knife was used to cut off his arm.
他用刀子砍掉了他的胳膊。
2. But when his water ran out …但当他的水用尽时...
run out表示“(某物)用完，不多了”，相当于不及物动词，后面不能接宾语。是“动词＋副词”型动词短语，主语通常是时间、食物、金钱等名词。
run out of表示“用完(某物)”，相当于及物动词(＝use up)，后接宾语，主语通常是人。
e.g. —Have you got any water
—Yes, but it ran out just now.
e.g. She ran out of time and didn't finish the last question.
3. ....,he bandaged himself so that he would not lose too much blood.
他用绷带绑住自己以便于他不会流太多血。
so that相当于in order that,用作连词短语,意为“以便,为的是”,引导目的状语从句/结果状语从句，从句谓语动词常用情态动词may/might/can/could等。so that还可以与in order that互换。
so...that意为“如此……以致……”,so 是副词,在其后可跟形容词或副词,再跟that引导的结果状语从句。
e.g. We went early so that we could get good seats.
为了占到好座位，我们早早就去了。
The boy is so young that he can’t go to school.
这个男孩太小还不能去上学。
4. This means being in a difficult situation that you cannot seem to get out of.这意味着我们似乎陷入了一个似乎不能摆脱的困难境地.
mean v. “……意思是” 或 “意味着”。
mean to do 打算干某事
mean doing 意味着做某事
e.g. What do you mean 你的意思是什么？
I mean to go to the party. 我打算去参加聚会。
To get there early means getting up early in the morning.
早点去那里意味着早上早点起床。
5. His love for mountain climbing is so great that he kept on climbing mountains even after this experience.
他如此热爱登山，以至于他一直在爬山。
keep on doing sth.继续做某事,强调动作的反复重复多次,中间有间隔,即“一再做某事”。
keep doing sth.意为“一直做某事”,强调动作的持续不间断,无停顿,强调连续性。keep sb. doing sth.让某人一直做某事
keep sb./sth.from doing sth.表示 “阻止某人/物做某事”。
e.g. The old woman kept on telling us the same story.

Aron Ralston
He kept on climbing mountains.

Background
2003年5月美国登山爱好者阿伦·拉斯顿在犹他州一座峡谷攀岩时，因右臂被石头压住被困5天5夜。
为了逃生，他强忍剧痛，花了一个多小时的时间，先后将桡骨和尺骨折断，用自己的运动短裤当作临时止血带，然后用小刀从肘部将右前臂硬生生切断。
从岩石下脱身后，为了与失血抢时间，他以超人的毅力爬过狭窄和风力强劲的峡谷，沿绳下到60英尺深的谷底，再步行5英里后与营救人员相遇，终于成功生还。
2004年Aron Ralston出版的回忆录《Between a Rock and a Hard Place》(《生死两难》)中详尽叙述了这段惊心动魄的经历！而他的真实经历也被拍成电影《127 Hours》。
