fair adj. 合理的;公正的
eg. I think it is fair for children to have time to play.
我认为对于孩子们来说有玩的时间是合理的。
unfair adj.不公平的,不公正的
eg. Some athletes use drugs. It’s unfair to others.
有的运动员使用兴奋剂。这对其他运动员是不公平的。
fairness n.公平;公正
eg. Mr Bush is known for his fairness in grading pupils.
布什老师以给学生评分公正而著称。
情态动词could的用法
①委婉地请求别人做某事时用:Could you (please) do sth.
肯定答语:Yes,sure./Yes,I can./Of course,I can./No problem./With pleasure./ Sure. / Certainly.等。
否定答语:Sorry,I can’t. I have to.../Sorry,I'm going to.../I'm afraid I can’t. I have to...等。
答语没有固定的形式,但要符合上下文的语境。
e.g:—Could you please make your bed?
—Yes,sure.
②委婉地请求别人允许自己做某事时用:Could I do sth.?
此句型一般不在I后加please。
肯定答语:Yes,you can. /Yes,please.等。
否定答语:Sorry,you can’t. / I'm afraid you can't.等。
eg:—Could I go to the movies?我可以去看电影吗?
—Yes,you can.是的,你可以。
【注意】无论是Could you please...?还是Could I...?句型,其答语中一般避免使用could来回答。

写信的格式
1. 信头:发信人地址和日期。
有时可省去发信人地址,但一般要写日期。放在信纸的右上方。
2. 称呼:对收信人的尊称。
常用Dear,后用名字,而Mr,Mrs,Miss后不能单独用名字,而是姓或姓与名,如:John Smith的称呼,是Mr Smith,Mr John Smith或 Dear John。称呼后用逗号。
3. 正文。
4. 结尾:发信人对收信人的谦称或敬语。放在信的右下方。要特别注意英语习惯,不可根据汉语意思写“此致敬礼”、“祝您健康”之类的中国式的结尾语。
写给同龄人或年长的朋友: Yours sincerely,Yours等等。
写给亲朋好友: Love,Best wishes等等。
5. 签名:一般在结尾语的下面一行。
常见的私人信件的开头方式:
高兴:I was so glad/pleased/happy to receive your letter.
感谢:Thank you for your wonderful gift / your interesting letter.
关心与询问:How are you these days?/ How are you getting on these days?/ How are you getting on with your work/studies?
抱歉:I am sorry that I did not write to you sooner but I have been very busy these days.
一般在表示道歉没有及时给对方写信时,还要简述原因或写上安慰的话。
遗憾:I was sorry to learn that you did not do well in the examination. / I was so upset to hear that you are ill these days. I do hope you are getting better.
写作指导
本单元以“家务和许可”为话题,围绕家庭中的日常事务展开,学生学习并掌握情态动词could表示委婉地请求许可的用法。结合本单元短文内容“青少年在家应不应该做家务”,具体到书面表达中,要求同学们会写议论文。
议论文有三要素:论点、论据和论证。通常结构为:
1.在导语部分开门见山,直接提出要讨论的问题或个人观点;
2.在正文部分对所提问题进行事例论证;
3.在结尾部分进行总结、归纳,并可以重申观点。

Dear Sir or Madam,
I believe that children should do some chores at home. I disagree that children's only job is to study hard and do well at school.
It is unfair for children to expect their parents to work hard outside and do all the household chores. I think children should at least do some simple chores to help their busy parents. For example, they should make their own beds and clean their own rooms because they are the ones who use these. They may not have time to help with the other parts of the house, but they should try to be responsible for their own area. This will help them to grow up to be independent and responsible adults.
