乡村音乐,又称“乡村与西部音乐”,是当代音乐的一种风格形式。其根源可追溯至上世纪20年代,起源于美国南部与阿帕拉契山区,人们公认田纳西州纳什维尔地区是乡村音乐的故乡,并建有专门的乡村音乐博物馆。此音乐风格于70年代在世界各地得以快速普及,受到广大青年的欢迎,并有“乡村音乐”逐步取代了“乡村与西部音乐”的称法。
　　乡村音乐的曲调,一般都很流畅、动听,曲式结构也比较简单,多位歌谣体、二部曲式或三部曲式。美国著名的乡村歌手包括约翰·丹佛、肯尼·罗杰斯、加思·布鲁克斯等。

Writing Time
Sarah is an American girl who used to fight over almost everything with her family. While she was studying in England, she heard a country music song which made her think of her family and friends. She became a fan of country music. Country music is a traditional kind of music from the southern states of America. It is about belonging to a group and reminds us of a time when people were kind to each other and trusted one another. Sarah’s dream is to visit Nashville, and she hopes to see Garth Brooks sing live one day.

2. Many songs these days are just about modern life in the US, such as the importance of money and success, but not about belonging to a group.
belong to意为“属于……，为……所拥有”。belong to不能用于被动语态，也不能用于进行时态。
belong to中的to是介词，后接名词或人称代词的宾格形式，不能接名词性物主代词或名词所有格。

“have/has been to＋某地”意为“去过某地（已经回来）”，当表地点的词为副词时，则省略to。否定形式在have/has后加not。

易错辨析:a number of和the number of
(1). a number of +名词复数 =lots of+名词复数,其后谓语动词用复数。
例如:
　　There are a number of ants on the ground. 地上有很多蚂蚁。
number 前面可以加修饰词 small, large, great等表示程度。
例如:
　　A large number of students are playing basketball on the playground.
(2). “the number of+名词复数”表示“……的数量”,谓语动词用第三人称单数。例如:
　　The number of the apples is 40. 苹果的数量是40。
