Language points
1. They were trying to cheat the emperor.他们正在设法欺骗皇帝。
try to do sth.设法做某事，尽力做某事。侧重尽力，为了达到目的而努力。
cheat作动词，意为“欺骗；蒙骗”, 其宾语总是人。
作名词讲时意为“骗子”。常用短语cheat sb into doing sth用欺骗的手段使某人上当而做某事。
e.g. Don't go to that shop —they often cheat their customers.
别去那家商店，他们常常欺骗顾客。
It's wrong to cheat in the exam.
考试作弊是不对的。

nobody:不定代词，“没有人”，作主语时谓语动词用第三人称单数。
sound系动词,后常接形容词作表语.类似用法的词有：look,　smell, taste, feel等．
stupid: adj. “愚蠢的；迟钝的”，侧重指智力差，反应迟钝。
e.g. I knocked at the door but nobody answered.
我敲了敲门，但没人来开。
He is very stupid in learning math. 他学数学很笨。
