Language points
1. Panda keepers are preparing milk for the baby pandas' breakfast.
prepare...for “为...准备…”
e.g. I'll prepare some drinks and snacks for you.
prepare for “为...做准备”
e.g. The students are busy preparing for the final exam.
学生们忙于为期末考试做准备。
2. ...they find that most of the babies are already awake and hungry.
awake “醒着的”，常用于be,stay, keep之后，做表语。其反义词为asleep“睡着的”
e.g. It's twelve at night. He is still awake.
晚上12点了，他还是醒着的。
注意：awake不用于名词前做定语。
e.g. I was so excited that I was awake (wake) the whole night.

die of 通常指由于人体自身原因（年老、忧伤等）造成的死亡

illness “疾病；病”，通常指因病而导致的不健康的状态
e.g. He cannot come because of illness.他因病不能来。
ill(adj.生病的)+ness(名词后缀)=illness(n.疾病)
英语中有些形容词加后缀-ness可构成名词，表示性质、状态
kind-kindness(仁慈），good-goodness(善良)

“There be＋ sb./sth.＋doing sth.＋地点”表示“某地有某人或某物正在做某事”。其中doing sth.是后置定语，与其修饰的词是逻辑上的主谓关系，表示人与动作是主动关系。
在there be句型中，当主语为多个并列的名词时，be动词的形式与离它最近的名词保持一致，即遵循“就近原则”。
e.g. There are some people picking apples on the farm.
在农场上有一些人正在摘苹果。

成都研究基地
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China. It's the hometown of pandas in China. Many tourists go there to see pandas every year.
Panda keepers(熊猫饲养员)take very good care of them here because it's very hard for pandas to live long.They are even endangered(濒临灭绝的).

Reading Tips
阅读时，可根据阅读任务的不同，综合运用略读(skimming)与扫读(scanning) 提高快速阅读水平。
略读(skimming)只看文章标题、下标题以及每个部分或者段落第一行，关注文章中反复出现的关键词。
略读时，要用充足的时间读懂段落的第一句和第二句，因为第一句往往是该段的主题句(topic sentence)，而第二句往往是对前句的延伸(extension)或进一步的解释(explanation)。
通过略读把握文章大意
运用扫读(scanning)迅速浏览从第三句开始的后面部分,搜寻作者对开头两句的支持句(supporting sentences),并同时注意文章中间是否有转折词(transition),因为这些词常常会把文章的思路逆转或加入其它重要的信息。当读到段落的最后一句时,我们又要使用略读,这时必须再次放慢速度(slow down your pace)直到完全消化作者对段落的小结(conclusion),因为该小结有可能与主题句截然相反或引导读者进入下一个段落。
