Language Points
1. Camel can live without water for a long time.
骆驼没有水能生存很长一段时间。
without 没有（介词），后跟名词或动名词做伴随状语
for+一段时间表示持续
e.g. 没有空气，我们不能生存。
We can't live without air.
2. Ants can smell things well.
蚂蚁嗅觉很好。
1) smell为实义动词，以为“闻……”，
后面直接加名词。
e.g. 问问这牛奶，它是不是变坏了？
Smell the milk. Does it go bad
2) smell可做系动词，意为“闻起
来……”，后加形容词。
e.g. 这鸡肉闻起来很美味。
The chicken smell delicious.
3) smell可做名词词，意为“味道”。
e.g. 这牛肉的味道很怪。

to know that there are only seven bones in it.
长颈鹿有很长的脖子，但是得知脖子里面只有七

be surprised to do sth. 对做某事感到很惊奇
be surprised at sth. 对某事感到惊奇
e.g. 听到这件事我很惊奇。
I am surprised to hear the thing.
e.g. 我对这件事很惊讶。

4. It is also amazing that a snake eats little or nothing in
cold winter.
蛇在寒冷的冬天吃很少或者不吃也令人吃惊。
此句的结构是：It is+形容词+that引导从句（句中it是形式主语，that从句是真正主语）。
=A snake eats little or nothing in cold winter is also amazing.
e.g. 我们的眼睛从出生开始就是一样大小太令人吃惊了。
It is amazing that our eyes are the same size from birth.
5. I also know that we need to keep our house clean—
ants can smell things well.
我也知道我们需要保持房子整洁—蚂蚁嗅觉很好。
keep+n.+adj. 意为“保持某人或某物……”
