Many people in Asia eat rice every day. It is a big part of the Asian diet(饮食). People also use rice to make rice noodles, rice milk, rice cake, rice paper and so on. Rice grows in rice paddies. You can find rice paddies in many places. There can be thousands of rice plants in one paddy. Each plant is called a stalk(秆). Each stalk of rice has several hundred grains(谷粒)of rice on it. That’s a lot of rice!
When farmers grow rice, they must take good care of it. So the plants can grow well. Rice needs good soil, a lot of sun and a lot of water. Rice also needs space to grow. This is why farmers usually plant rice stalks in rows. Then each plant has enough space around. Temperature is also very important. Rice grows best in warm places.
The first step in growing rice is to prepare the land. It must be level(平坦的). When the land is ready, farmers plant the rice seedlings and cover them with water. 【新素材·ChatGPT】(2023山东潍坊中考改编)
Developed by US company OpenAI, ChatGPT has taken the Internet by storm, winning 100 million users since it came out in November 2022. People can ask the robot to write stories and emails, create instructions for cooking a certain food, translate languages, and answer all kinds of questions. In its own words, it is “a language model trained in a large amount of Internet text to help users get human-like text”.
Compared with Siri or other chatbots, ChatGPT uses a much bigger information center for training. It also uses stronger software (软件) and hardware to learn things by itself. For example, if it provides a wrong answer to your question, you can tell it the right one and it will correct itself. “It’s a totally different chatbot,” computer scientist Liu Xiaoguang from Nankai University told Tianjin Daily. “The knowledge level ChatGPT shows is the same as a university student. That’s why it shocked the world.”
But one big problem with ChatGPT is that it makes mistakes or even gives false information. When Rezza, a 28-year-old from Indonesia, used the robot to write an essay (论文), it “gave out many examples which other writers actually hadn’t mentioned at all”, he told The Guardian. Since the robot is trained using words from the Internet, it can also pick up bias (偏见) about certain groups. These are all things that need to be dealt with.

36.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.Anybody can make mistakes.
B.Anybody may give false information.

Plants Grown in Soil from the Moon
Scientists at the University of Florida(UF) have grown plants in soil that came from the moon. The plants didn’t grow as well as those grown in dirt from the earth. They were smaller and grew more slowly. Their roots didn’t develop as well, and some leaves turned red. But the experiment marks an important step toward growing plants on the Moon.
European Tree of the Year
A 180-year-old oak tree in Poland has won this year’s European Tree of the Year(ETY) contest. The goal of the contest is to encourage people to appreciate and protect trees. The ETY contest has been running since 2011. The organizers say the contest isn’t just about beauty, size, or age, but about “the tree’s story and the connection between it and people”. This year, the contest became about even more than that.

Girls and boys,
With the development of technology, many students have smart phones. Some students often spend so much time in playing games on smart phones that they feel very tired. So someone doesn’t finish homework on time. Someone even sleeps in class. Besides, smart phones do harm to our health. Some students’ eyesight is becoming poorer and poorer.
To avoid these disadvantages, I think we should make some changes. First, we should keep away from smart phones and work hard. Second, stay with our family or friends if we are free and talk with them about our daily life, feelings and so on. Third, take an active part in all kinds of activities, such as playing basketball and singing songs.
That’s all. Thank you!
