With nearly 200,000 followers, 22-year-old TikTok influencer Tan Le is sometimes under more pressure than his peers(同辈)when he expresses himself on social media.
He said, “There are lots of unkind comments. They can be as simple as ‘this is not funny’ or ‘you’re ugly’. They really make me down. I try not to let them influence me and I trust the words that are close to me much more.”
Mr Lan, who creates videos with his friend Ryan Han, added, “There are actually many comments on TikTok about us, such as who’s better looking, who has greater personality and who is more honest, and these do influence us quite a bit.”
Sharing life on social media has brought them a lot of happiness especially when their videos make people laugh, but it has also made them have to face the unpleasant comments.
The Sunday Times interviewed 23 people including social workers, scientists and teachers, who agreed most young people find it difficult not to check out their friends’ lives on social media and make a comparison.
You can’t just do well in your studies. You also need to be good-looking, good at sports and born in a rich family. The competition is encouraged by their peers on social media—when everyone only posts about good things.
Experts say plenty of attractive posts can easily lead to a sense of inferiority (自卑), especially among young people with less experience to tell life on the social media from the real world.
When young people are already busy dealing with the expectations from their families and peer pressure, they had better keep their distance from social media for self-worth.
26.Why is Tan Le under more pressure on social media

B.Because he doesn’t like telling jokes.
C.Because people don’t think he’s handsome.
D.Because some comments make him sad.

C.Because they get happiness by sharing life.
D.Because they are used to unpleasant comments.

A.Read more books.
B.Stop using the Internet.
C.Keep distance from social media.
D.Do nothing.
29.What’s the best title of the passage

B.Say no to Social Media
C.Mind the Use of Social Media
D.The Harm of Sharing Videos
Ⅳ.任务型阅读(每小题2分,共10分)
【人与社会·个人信息安全】
There’s no doubt that we use the Internet more often than we think nowadays. Everyone needs to look for some useful information online in daily life. But a large number of fake (虚假的) information has gradually come into our life. We can be easily misled (误导) by those fake information if we don’t realize or check whether it is true.
Here are some ways that can help us tell the fake information from the true information online.
First, pay attention to the fake photos. Much fake news uses different photos that are changed or taken from other websites. Second, check the details. If the information is heavily referenced (引用), this often means it is believable, as other people and websites have checked it. Check if the news is the latest one. This requires us to see the date and time of the news, which are usually listed at the bottom or on the top of the news. Then check the writer. Usually, if the writer has published many articles before, the information from him or her is more likely to be true.
Although these ways can mostly be helpful, we also need to improve our abilities in the internet age. We are supposed to learn new knowledge as much as possible. We should also experience different things, such as traveling around the world and taking part in social activities. These can help us have a better understanding of what is being spread on the Internet.
Therefore, figuring out what is fake news is quite necessary for all of us and it can help us make wiser decisions.
