e.g. I promise to go swimming with her. 我答应跟她去游泳。

or是转折连词，“否则”。
e.g. Work hard, or you will fail the exam.

suggest的用法：suggest sth. to sb. 把某物推荐给某人，suggest doing sth. 建议做某事，suggest +that从句(多用虚拟语气)

I suggest climbing the hill this Sunday. 我建议这个周日爬山。
I suggest that we (should) set off earlier. 我建议我们早点出发。
3. I'd rather wear orange. 我更喜欢穿橘色。
would rather 意为“宁愿；宁可”，主语为人称代词时，常缩写为“ ‘d rather”，后接动词原形。否定结构为would rather not do sth.，意为“宁愿不做某事”。
e.g. She would / She'd rather do some reading at home.
她宁愿在家读书。
Mary would rather not buy the car.
玛丽宁愿不买车。
would rather常与than连用，构成would rather do sth. than do sth.结构，意为“宁愿做某事而不愿做某事”；如果would rather后面的(短语)动词与than后面的相同，那么than后面的(短语)动词可以省略。
e.g. Kevin would rather read books than go to the cinema tonight.
