(2020·四川广安 · 高二期末) Due to climate changes, Arctic ice is breaking up earlier in the spring, and its area is decreasing. This is creating problems for polarbears that make their homes
off northern Alaska and in Hudson Bay.
Polarbears off Alaska normally hunt and raise their young on ice sheets that float on the
ocean. But as the ice has melted, the polar bears have been forced to spend more time on land.
There, they have begun to frequent beaches, feeding on the remains of whales caught by native
hunters. For polarbears, this food is less nutritious than seals that they normally catch on ice
sheets. The shrinking (减少) ice has also forced more polarbears into the ocean. In the past, they only had to swim short distances between ice sheets. But as the ice has shrunk, polarbears have
been forced to swim longer and longer distances in the open ocean. This poses a severe danger
during rough weather, and an increasing number of drowned polarbears have been observed.
In Hudson Bay, the ice breaks up three weeks earlier in the spring now than it did 20 years ago. Polarbears on Hudson Bay fast (绝食) during the summer, waiting for ice to form in the fall
to hunt. Every year, the summer gets longer, and the bears get skinnier. Over the past 25
years, the average weight of the female bears has dropped 68 kg. This loss affects their ability to reproduce, and already the number of births has dropped by 15 percent. Unless the bears can learn
to survive these climate changes, these giants of the ice may one day disappear.
6 .What is Arctic ice doing earlier each year
A .It's freezing. B .It's hardening.
C .It's melting. D .It's expanding.
7 .What is true of polarbears that are spending more time on land in Alaska
A .Their young are dying. B .Their diet is changing.
C .Their health is improving. D .Their families are growing.
8 .What does the writer imply about female polarbears in Hudson Bay
A .They are having fewer young now. B .They suffer from various sicknesses.
C .They don't need stronger protection. D .They can't find enough good males.
9 .In which publication would you most likely find this passage
A .Medical News. B .Society Today.
C .Wildlife Journal D .Design Magazine.
二、七选五
(2022·湖北 · 恩施市第一中学模拟预测)The United States is a vast country where there are
four different time zones. In addition, many parts of the country observe daylight saving time
(DST) as well. In areas that adopt DST, the clock is moved one hour forward for the summer.
Thus, the local time varies across different areas of the country. It
has been changed many times over the years.
For decades, both the Eastern Time Zone and Central Time Zone have existed within the
state. Many areas in the state have switched back and forth between Eastern Time and Central
Time. Furthermore, until very recently, policy concerning DST differed from one place to another.
In 2006, however, the entire state started to observe DST.
Some have argued that the time system in Indiana harms local businesses working with
companies outside of Indiana. For example ,a company in Indiana once scheduled a phone
conference with companies in other states. This was because those
who missed the conference did not know in which time zone the company was located.
Local businesses may benefit from being in the Eastern Time
Zone where the financial center of the entire country, Wall Street in New York City, is located.
Meanwhile, this may not be convenient for residents in the western parts of Indiana who commute (通勤) to major cities in the Central Time Zone, like Chicago, just across the state border.
The controversy over time in Indiana was partly resolved in 2006.
However, there is still disagreement about having two different time zones in the state. This
debate may continue as long as people living in different parts of the state have different needs.
A .In other areas DST was adopted.
B .It is not easy to resolve this issue.
C .The entire state started to observe DST.
D .Only half of the participants were on line.
E .Most areas in the Eastern Time Zone did not adopt DST.
F .The state of Indiana is known for its complex time system.
G .It depends on which time zone the area is in and whether DST is adopted.

In Hudson Bay, the ice breaks up three weeks earlier in the spring now than it did 20 years
ago. Polarbears on Hudson Bay fast (绝食) during the summer, waiting for ice to form in
the fall to hunt.

1 It has been changed
many times over the years.
For decades, both the Eastern Time Zone and Central Time Zone have existed within the
state. Many areas in the state have switched back and forth between Eastern Time and Central
Time. Furthermore, until very recently, policy concerning DST differed from one place to another.
2 In 2006, however, the entire state started to observe DST.
____
Some have argued that the time system in Indiana harms local businesses working with
companies outside of Indiana. For example ,a company in Indiana once scheduled a phone
conference with companies in other states. 3 This was because those who missed the conference did not know in which time zone the company was located.
4 Local businesses may benefit from being in the Eastern Time Zone where the
financial center of the entire country, Wall Street in New York City, is located. Meanwhile, this
may not be convenient for residents in the western parts of Indiana who commute (通勤) to major
cities in the Central Time Zone, like Chicago, just across the state border.
The controversy over time in Indiana was partly resolved in 2006. 5 However, there is still disagreement about having two different time zones in the state. This debate may
continue as long as people living in different parts of the state have different needs.
G .It depends on which time zone the area is in and whether DST is adopted.

changed many times over the years.(这些年来, 它已经改变了很多次。)”中的 it 指的是 F 选项
中的“its complex time system”,即印第安纳州复杂的时间系统。故选 F 项。
2.根据上文“For decades, both the Eastern Time Zone and Central Time Zone have existed within the state. Many areas in the state have switched back and forth between Eastern Time and Central Time. Furthermore, until very recently, policy concerning DST differed from one place to another. (几十年来,东部时区和中部时区都存在于该州。该州的许多地区在东部时间和中部时间之 间来回切换)”可知,选项承接上文说明解决问题是有难度的。故 B 选项“It is not easy to resolve
this issue.(要解决这个问题并不容易) ”和前文紧密相关。故选 B 项。
3 .根据上文“Some have argued that the time system in Indiana harms local businesses working with companies outside of Indiana. and you can even purchase a Disney makeover for your kids in the park 2 with authentic
costumes (戏服), hairstyles, and makeup by the professionals. But as the kids get older, they are less likely to be dressed up, and 3 they hit the age of 14, you won’t 4 a single one of

It isn’t because they’re “too cool for school”; it’s 5 against the rules. According to the

costumes or masks.
The 6 of this rule is two-fold. One, your face can’t be 7 and you can’t be
carrying anything resembling a real gun. This is obviously a 8 issue, so choose your
cosplay wisely. The second intention is to 9 that any interactions park guests have with cast members remain genuine (真实的) and on brand. If there were 20 adults running around dressed
