(2022上·广东深圳·九年级深圳中学校考期末)Have you ever met anyone that hates throwing things away and saves almost everything they come across for fear that they might need it They are hoarders (囤积者). In a hoarder’s home, there are newspapers and books everywhere, as well as shoulder-high piles of clothes, toys and so on.
Although most of us might not suffer from this problem of physical hoarding (实质的囤积), the modern technology is turning many people into digital (数码的) hoarders. As digital storage devices (存储设备) become cheaper, people now can save as many articles, digital photos and videos as they want. It’s easy to do and seemingly harmless, but the collecting can quickly get out of control.
Physical hoarding is not so hard to deal with, while digital hoarding, on the other hand, is much harder. Some people may begin saving copies of every photo or article they find on the Internet, or whole seasons of TV shows that they never watch. Soon, their devices fill up to the point of being unusable and they are unable to find important things they do need. Their computers and their lives are overrun (泛滥) by e-junk.
How do you know if you’re becoming a digital hoarder Here are some signs: feeling worried when deleting (删除) something, or always needing new storage devices. Another warning signal is when you spend more time looking for things on your computer than it would take to download them again. If this sounds like you, to take your life back, you need to change.
Start by looking through your devices if you haven’t touched a file in over a year, it is probably no longer important and can be abandoned. Next, delete all bad photos, and for each, ask yourself if you will want to see it in ten years. Above all, name the files wisely, adding descriptions and dates to make the search easier.
In a world where computers and smartphones are used so widely, it’s easy to find yourself living in a sea of files. As you try to move forward in your new digital life, make good use of your “Delete” key.

Shougang Industrial Park in Beijing’s Shijingshan district is now a famous and popular culture and sports site. However, it used to be a steel mill that was built in 1919. In its peak years, it housed 60,000 workers and made more than 10 million tons of iron and steel. To protect the environment, however, the mill slowly reduced its production from 2005 until it closed in 2010.

(2023上·广东深圳·九年级校考期末)Damoqiu was listed in 2016 as an intangible cultural heritage in Longlin county, Guangxi.
Master’s story
For the Yi ethnic group, damoqiu is a traditional sport and celebration during festivals. Li Jingming started playing it at the age of 5.
“Many people simply play damoqiu for fun,” said the 61-year-old. “Yet, taking it as a professional sport is more a game of bravery (勇敢).”
According to Li, since the horizontal pole only hangs on the standing pole, it’s always spinning (旋转), making it hard for performers to keep balance. “If you’re lacking in strength, it’s easy to tilt (倾斜) and you may even slip down from the pole. Sometimes, it’s even dangerous”, added Li.
Besides bravery, as a professional sport, damoqiu also needs great effort and patience.
Training for a new posture sometimes requires more than 10 days. “Repetition (重复) is part of our daily routine (惯例). Though it’s boring, it is worth our effort to keep the tradition alive,” Li said.
As more and more young people leave villages to earn money in the big cities, they have less time to train on the pole and develop new postures. “It’s a pity that damoqiu is disappearing from the competitive stage now”, said Li, adding that he has only had five disciples (徒弟) in training during the last fifty years.
To make damoqiu known to more people, Li not only teaches it in schools voluntarily, but also perform in many competitions to show the sport’s charm (魅力).

(2023上·广东广州·九年级广州市番禺区钟村中学校考期末)Tim Berners-Lee is not the most famous inventor in the world. However, his invention has changed our lives.
He was born in London, England in 1955. When he was a small boy, Tim was interested in playing with electrical things. He studied science at Oxford University. He made his first computer from an old television at the age of 21.
Tim started working on early computers. At that time, they were much bigger than now. He worked in England then Switzerland. Tim was really interested in two things, computers and how the brain works. How could the brain connect so many facts so quickly He had to work with people all over the world. Long long ago, a serious epidemic (流行病) broke out in the city of Beijing. Almost every family became sick, and many people were dying. Nothing seemed to work at bringing the disease under control. The people could do nothing but pray to the moon goddess Chang’e.
Chang’e felt sad after learning about the disaster in the human world. She changed her pet bunny, Jade Rabbit, into a human and sent her down to save the people. As soon as Jade Rabbit arrived in Beijing, she visited one family after another to treat the patients for free. People took her special medicine and recovered quickly.
In return for the kindness of this highly skilled doctor, people all wanted to give her some gifts. But Jade Rabbit politely said no to all of them. She only borrowed some dresses and jackets so that she would be able to regularly change her clothes and look neat. On some days, she pretended to be a young girl. On other days, she pretended to be an elderly man. Jade Rabbit kept herself busy. She managed to treat all the patients before that year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.

(2023上·广东广州·九年级统考期末)Recently, a video on the Internet attracted widespread attention. About 1,000 students across China talked about what they didn’t want to be in the future. This was a bit unusual. Normally, people talk about the things they do want to do or be.
Well, it turns out that most of the students are unsatisfied with the world as it is now. There are lots of big problems. Some have easy solutions and others don’t. Most adults have become jaded. In other words, they get tired, worn-out and give up on having any dreams or hopes of being able to make the world a better place.
When I was a teenager, my parents told me I could do anything and be whatever it was I wanted to be. I usually laughed and thought this was a bit silly and impractical. However, looking back, my teachers’ support and my experience as a summer camp counselor(顾问) led me to choose a career in education, which I really appreciated. I’ve been looking for more ways to encourage my students to keep their dreams alive. I always encourage them to try to help make the world a better place. I have found that I have personally been able to achieve this in the job now as a Director of College Counseling.
But how can you achieve what you want to do According to one of my favorite books, The Four Disciplines of Execution, there are four steps. Focus on your wildly important goals—your “WIGs”, develop steps to achieve them, keep a diary of your progress, and finally check your progress.
So what’s my WIG Don’t be afraid, think positively and dream big!

A.The increasing number of viewers of the video.
B.The things that students prefer to do in the future.

45.What does the writer think of the parents’ advice at first
A.Funny. B.Silly. C.Practical. D.Surprising.
46.Why does the writer talk about the book The Four Disciplines of Execution
A.To share the ways to read a book. B.To set the goals for us to achieve.

【答案】43.D 44.A 45.B 46.C

(2023上·广东广州·九年级广东番禺中学校联考期末)Phil White has just returned from an 18, 000-mile, around-the-world bicycle trip. White had two reasons for making this epic journey. First of all, he wanted to use the trip to raise money for charity, which he did. He raised 70, 000 for the British charity, Oxfam. White’s second reason for making the trip was to break the world record and become the fastest person to cycle around the world. He is still waiting to find out whether he has broken the record or not.
White set off from Trafalgar Square, in London, on 19th June, 2004 and was back 299 days later. He spent more than 1, 300 hours in the saddle(车座) and destroyed four sets of tyres and three bike chains. He had the adventure of his life crossing Europe first, and then the Middle East, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and finally the Americas. Amazingly, he did all of this with absolutely no support team. No jeep carrying food, water and medicine. No doctor. Nothing! Just a bike and a very, very long road.
The journey was lonely and desperate at times. He also had to fight his way across deserts, through jungles and over mountains. He cycled through heavy rains and temperatures of up to 45 degrees, all to help people in need. There were other dangers along the road. In Iran, he was chased by armed robbers and was lucky to get away with the little money he had. The worst thing that had happened to him was having to cycle into a headwind on a road that crosses the south of Australia. For 1,000 kilometers he battled against the wind that was constantly pushing him. This part of the trip was slow, hard and depressing, but he made it in the end.

(2023上·广东深圳·九年级校考期末)Friends make our lives better. Monkeys feel the same way. UK scientists found that monkeys are more likely to survive (生存) if they have close friends.
Scientists studied 319 adult female (成年雌性) monkeys over seven years. They observed(观察) the lives of these monkeys, including how much time they spent with their friends and how they groomed (梳理) each other’s fur (毛).
From their study, monkeys who have “close friends” are more likely to live longer. These monkeys were 11 percent less likely to die in a given year.
If a monkey has many different friends, it means it is popular, scientists said. Life is easier for these monkeys. For example, other monkeys won’t drive them away from food. They’re more likely to be groomed than other monkeys. And if problems happen, the monkey’s friends will help him or her deal with them.
Scientists did the study on an island (岛屿) near Puerto Rico (波多黎各) called Cayo Santiago. It is known as “Monkey Island” or “Island of the Monkeys”. About 1,000 monkeys live there.

(2023上·广东广州·九年级统考期末)There’s a saying that goes, “If you want to lose friends quickly, travel with them.”
Do you want to end up travelling with a broken friendship If you don’t want to have a bad experience, here are some tips you can follow to reduce the arguments that appear.
Dealing with a bad team player. Shan Minjie, a student at Zhejiang University, is going to Shanghai with two of her friends next month. But one problem has already appeared long before they’ve even set out. One of the girls won’t lift a finger to plan their trips, leaving the task to Shan and the other friends. Shan says she will be more careful when she picks travel partners next time.
Learning to compromise (妥协). Feng Yaolin went to Xinjiang with three friends at the first year at University. One of the girls insisted on taking a shower every day. That means when they were camping and didn’t have hot water, the rest of the team had to put up with her complaints. But Feng knew better than to turn the problem into a fight.
“It was only a small thing, and we all tried to understand,” said Feng. “And it wasn’t all bad. For example, when she cleaned the tables in the restaurants, she would do the same for the rest of us. And we were grateful.”
Dealing with money. Han Chen went to Xiamen with a close friend. At first, they would offer to pay for each other’s meals, but it wasn’t long before they found their system didn’t work. Their solution was to go Dutch. “I didn’t feel comfortable at first because we have a habit of treating our friends instead of sharing the bills, but soon I realized it was the best way to solve the argument.”
“It’s true that you get to discover some of your friends’ problems during the trip, but in some ways, it is the problems that bring us even closer,” said Han Chen.

When Laura saw her school dining hall throw away food that was not eaten at all every day, she came up with an idea. She started a project to help her school dining hall to give away uneaten food to homeless shelters (庇护所) in her community. In the past three years, the same project has spread to other schools and some fast food restaurants throughout the city. The project is called Feed & Find, and has already fed thousands of people in her city.
How does it work Through an app, Feed & Find matches local homeless shelters with school dining halls and restaurants that have uneaten food to provide. When dining halls or restaurants have uneaten food left, they can use the app to share the information about the food. A truck driver working for the project is then sent to pick it up and take it to a shelter.
Pretty cool, right It’s not surprising that people in other cities have got in touch with Laura, hoping that she could have develop similar projects for their communities.

Shenzhen has a total of four dog rescue centres, one of which is the Longgang Dog Rescue Centre in Honghualing Ecological Park. As the newest one, the centre was put into use in July 2020. It covers nearly 800 square metres and can accommodate(容纳)more than 4,000 dogs a year.
According to the director of the centre, Liu Xiongguang, the centre is divided into eight areas — the office, reception, isolation(隔离), living, adoption, storehouse, activity and science popularization areas.
The centre aims to accommodate, treat, help with the adoption of, and inform the public about the homeless or captured dogs in Longgang. If the dog owner is found within seven days, the centre will tell him or her to get back the pet, or the centre will adopt it.
The first place the dogs set foot in is the reception area, where workers at the centre will take photos of them and record them on the list. The dogs with diseases will be isolated and other dogs will remain in the room to wait for the next step. After careful watching, the dogs are moved to the living area. Every dog enjoys a single room there. The workers will feed them and play with them in the activity area.

“All right, are you ready Okay, the camera’s rolling.” I really made my dream. I stood inside the empty school hallway and held the script On Patrol. “For this scene, ”I explained, “all I need you to do is to walk quietly. ”In front of the camera was my best friend, Gavin, wearing a blue uniform. This was certainly not a Hollywood blockbuster. I didn’t have a producer, a script director, or even something as simple as a light set up. The only tools I had was my camera and my tripod(三脚架), but they were enough. “Okay, are you good ”I asked. Gavin nodded his head. “Okay. Action!” I said.
Since I was in kindergarten, movies have been my life. Some people may think back to their childhood as they hear the sound of table tennis or see a baseball flying into the blue sky during a backyard game. Some people may smell the salty air of the ocean during a family vacation. As for me, I hear the sound of the video recorder. The movie I watched most as a child was Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. From then on, I watched as many movies as I could. When I began high school, I was wondering what I should choose as a job. After months of not having any idea of what I would become, an idea appeared: If I love movies so much, why not make it a career I began to write my first short film, On Patrol, a ten-minute silent video about a hall monitor trying to stop someone from throwing rubbish at a school. After I finished my first script, I was very excited. Then I was thinking, "Now it is up to me to make my first movie."
It was not a famous movie, but it was my stepping-stone. Now looking back at On Patrol still gives me a dream that could direct more good movies. Watching my first movie not only gives me a laugh, but also gives me the encouragement to continue running after a love I have had since I put Spider-Man into my video recorder many years ago.

(2023上·广东深圳·九年级校考期末)Most people suffer from it from time to time—the room starts to spin or one feels strangely light-headed. These feelings are commonly known as dizziness(眩晕).
Feeling dizzy is not an illness. _________ Not getting enough sleep, suffering from heart problems or spinning for a long time can all lead to dizziness.
However, the figure skaters seem different. When the music is on, they glide(滑行), jump and spin. One turn, two turns, three turns…—it seems that they never get dizzy no matter how many times they spin. Why
We often feel dizzy and lose balance after spinning around. This is because when we move our heads during a spin, our eyes start to move in the opposite direction. They reach their limit before our head finishes a full turn, so they turn back to a new starting point. When our eyes repeat this, we get dizzy.
Figure skaters don’t have any super power. They get dizzy, too. Their secret is lots of practice.
As they train more, their brains get used to the feeling.
Skaters also have methods to help them feel less dizzy. One method is called “opposing eye movement”. It’s like the eye movement when we watch a moving train pass in front of us while our heads stay still. Skaters can train themselves to have this eye movement when they spin. This can offset(抵消) the dizziness.
There are also other methods. The first one is keeping a uniform speed(匀速). We feel dizzier when our brains feel changes in speed. Skaters can also pick one point to stare at as they stop turning. Some skaters will design a dance move at the end of a long spin. This provides a little break while the dizziness passes.
83.What does the underlined word “spin” in Paragraph 1 mean
A.Jump up and down. B.Be full of lots of noise.
C.Turn round and round rapidly. D.Be filled with terrible smell.
84.What can we put into the blank in Paragraph 2
A.It can be treated easily. B.Some people never feel dizzy.
C.We don’t need to care about it. D.There are many reasons for dizziness.
85.What do our eyes do when we spin our heads to the right
A.They move to the left. B.They move to the right.
C.They move faster than our heads. D.They stop moving.
86.How many methods for fighting dizziness are introduced in the last two paragraphs
A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five.
87.What’s the writer’s purpose in writing this passage
A.To introduce some famous skaters.
B.To give us some advice on skating.
C.To explain why skaters never feel dizzy.
D.To offer us some ways of feeling less dizzy.
