Darcie Hayward will have her five-year-old Alaskan Malamute, Sora, put paws on the pavement every day of the next month to raise funds for Guide Dogs Australia’s PAWGUST campaign.
The initiative, which encourages Australians to walk their dogs for 30 minutes a day for 30 days, is a cause close to the 29-year-old’s heart. Her younger blind brother Lachie, 27, was recently matched with a guide dog of his own, black Labrador Eddie in May after 18 months of tests and compatibility(相容)training.
“Since Eddie arrived, Lachie has been able to walk around without his cane(手杖), feeling like he is just walking his dog, ” said Darcie, who lives in Langwarrin, Victoria. “They are best friends. ” Seeing the difference a guide dog made to her brother, Darcie was overjoyed to be raising funds, so other Australians could one day have their own companion dogs, like Lachie.
“Many people see a guide dog and go, not realizing how much it takes to raise a guide dog puppy so I want to raise some awareness, ” said Darcie. “It’s amazing to see how Lachie’s life has improved, but there are many people without that companionship. It’s really nice to be able to contribute in any way I can. I shared the experience on our local community web page, mentioning we are raising money for guide dogs. Surprisingly, a couple of strangers donated. ”
It seems that Eddie has already been a popular pup with the locals. “There are so many kids who have been asking to pat Eddie that Lachie has to reject them, ” Darcie added with a smile. Excited to be making a positive impact by walking her own dog, Darcie is eager to encourage more people to fetch their leashes(牵狗用的皮带) and tie up their trainers to take action.

Human responses to moral dilemmas (道德困境) can be influenced by statements written by the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, according to a study published in Scientific Reports. The findings indicate that users may undervalue the extent to which their own moral judgments can be influenced by the chatbot.
Sebastian Krigel and colleagues asked ChatGPT multiple times whether it is right to sacrifice (牺牲) the life of one person in order to save the lives of five others. They found that ChatGPT wrote random statements arguing both for and against sacrificing one life, indicating that it is not biased towards a certain moral stance (立场).
The authors then presented 767 U.S. participants, who were on average 39 years old, with a dilemma whether to sacrifice one person’s life to save five others. Before answering, participants read a statement provided by ChatGPT arguing either for or against sacrificing one life to save five. Statements were from either a moral advisor or ChatGPT. After answering, participants were asked whether the statement they read influenced their answers.
Eighty percent of participants reported that their answers were not influenced by the statements they read. However, the authors found that the answers participants believed they would have provided without reading the statements were still more likely to agree with the moral stance of the statement they did read than with the opposite stance. This indicates that participants may have underestimated the influence of ChatGPT’s statements on their own moral judgments.
The authors suggest that the possibility for chatbots to influence human moral judgments highlights the need for education to help humans better understand artificial intelligence. They propose that future research should design chatbots that either decline to answer questions requiring a moral judgment or answer these questions by providing multiple arguments and warnings.
8. What are ChatGPT’s answers to a certain moral stance
A. changeable. B. valuable. C. creative. D. simple.
9 What is learned about the participants
A. They admitted the power of ChatGPT.
B. They were interviewed by a moral advisor.
C. They were affected by ChatGPT unknowingly.
D. They were presented with different moral dilemmas.
10. What is the last paragraph mainly about
A. Different findings of the study. B. Future possibility for chatbots.
C. Major focuses of future education. D. Solutions to the impact of chatbots.
11. Which of the following is the best title for the text

根据第二段“They found that ChatGPT wrote random statements arguing both for and against sacrificing one life, indicating that it is not biased towards a certain moral stance (立场).(他们发现,ChatGPT会随机写出支持或反对牺牲一条生命的陈述,这表明它并不偏向于某种道德立场)”可推知,ChatGPT对某种道德立场的回复不一致,是可改变的。故选A。
根据倒数第二段“This indicates that participants may have underestimated the influence of ChatGPT’s statements on their own moral judgments.(这表明参与者可能低估了ChatGPT的陈述对他们自己道德判断的影响)”可推知,参与者在不知不觉中受到了ChatGPT的影响。
根据最后一段“The authors suggest that the potential for chatbots to influence human moral judgments highlights the need for education to help humans better understand artificial intelligence. They propose that future research should design chabots that either decline to answer questions requiring a moral judgment or answer these questions by providing multiple arguments and warnings.(作者认为,聊天机器人影响人类道德判断的潜力凸显了教育的必要性,以帮助人类更好地理解人工智能。他们建议,未来的研究应该设计出要么拒绝回答需要道德判断的问题,要么通过提供多种论证和警告来回答这些问题的聊天机器人)”可知,最后一段主要讲解决聊天机器人影响人类道德判断力的方法。故选D。
【11题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段中“Human responses to moral dilemmas (道德困境) can be influenced by statements written by the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, according to a study published in Scientific Reports.(发表在《科学报告》上的一项研究表明,人类对道德困境的反应可能会受到人工智能聊天机器人ChatGPT所写语句的影响)”和倒数第二段中“This indicates that participants may have underestimated the influence of ChatGPT’s statements on their own moral judgments.(这表明参与者可能低估了ChatGPT的陈述对他们自己道德判断的影响)”可知,文章介绍了关于人类对道德困境的反应可能会受到人工智能聊天机器人ChatGPT所写语句影响的研究,介绍了研究开展的过程和发现,最后还提到了解决聊天机器人影响的方法。

Philosophers have a bad reputation for expressing themselves in a dry and boring way. The ideals for most philosophical writing are precision, clarity, and the sort of conceptual analysis that leaves no hair un-split.
There is nothing wrong with clarity, precision, and the like — but this isn’t the only way to do philosophy. Outside academic journals, abstract philosophical ideas are often expressed through literature, cinema, and song. There’s nothing that grabs attention like a good story, and there are some great philosophical stories that delight and engage, rather than putting the reader to sleep.
One of the great things about this is that, unlike formal philosophy, which tries to be very clear, stories don’t wear their meanings on their sleeve — they require interpretation, and often express conflicting ideas for the reader to wrestle with.
Consider what philosophers call the metaphysics (形而上学) of race — an area of philosophy that explorers the question of whether or not race is real. There are three main positions that you can take on these questions. You might think that a person’s race is written in their genes (a position known as “biological realism”). Or you might think of race as socially real, like days of the week or currencies (“social constructionism”). Finally, you might think that races are unreal — that they’re more like leprechauns (一种魔法精灵) than they are like Thursdays or dollars (“anti-realism”).
A great example of a story with social constructionist taking on race is George Schuyler’s novel Black No More. In the book, a Black scientist named Crookman invents a procedure that makes Black people visually indistinguishable from Whites. Thousands of African Americans flock to Crookman’s Black No More clinics and pay him their hard-earned cash to undergo the procedure. White racists can no longer distinguish those people who are “really” White from those who merely appear to be White. In a final episode, Crookman discovers that new Whites are actually a whiter shade of pale than those who were born that way, which kicks off a trend of sunbathing to darken one’s skin-darkening it so as to look more While.
Philosophically rich stories like this bring more technical works to life. They are stories to think with.
12. What does the author think of philosophical stories
A. The meaning behind is very obvious.
B. They am extremely precise and formal.
C. They often cause conflicts among readers.
D. They are engaging and inspire critical thinking.
13. Which category might “Christmas” fall into according to paragraph 4
A. Social constructionism. B. Anti-realism.
C. Biological realism. D. Literary realism.
14. What is Black No More in paragraph 5 mainly about
A. Racial issues caused by skin colors.
B. A society view on race and self-image.
C. Black people accepted by the white society.
D. The origin of sun bathing among white people.
15. What is the best title of the text
A. Stories Made Easy B. Stories to Think with
C. Positions in Philosophy D. Nature of Philosophical Writing
D 13. A 14. B 15. B
根据第二段“There’s nothing that grabs attention like a good story, and there are some great philosophical stories that delight and engage, rather than putting the reader to sleep.(没有什么能像一个好故事那样吸引人的注意力,有一些伟大的哲学故事会让读者感到愉悦和吸引人,而不是让读者昏昏欲睡)”以及第三段“One of the great things about this is that, unlike formal philosophy, which tries to be very clear, stories don’t wear their meanings on their sleeve — they require interpretation, and often express conflicting ideas for the reader to wrestle with.(这其中最重要的一点是,与形式哲学不同的是,故事并不会把自己的意思挂在明面上——它们需要解释,而且常常表达出相互矛盾的观点,让读者纠结)”可知,哲学故事可以使读者有参与感和激发批判性思维。
根据第四段“Consider what philosophers call the metaphysics (形而上学) of race — an area of philosophy that explorers the question of whether or not race is real. There are three main positions that you can take on these questions. You might think that a person’s race is written in their genes (a position known as “biological realism”). Finally, you might think that races are unreal — that they’re more like leprechauns (一种魔法精灵) than they are like Thursdays or dollars (“anti-realism”).(让我们来考虑一下哲学家所称之为种族形而上学——这是探究种族是否真实的哲学问题。关于这个问题,你可能持有三个主要观点。你可能认为一个人的种族写在他们的基因中(被称为“生物现实主义”)。或者,你可能认为种族是社会上真实存在的,就像星期几或货币一样(“社会建构主义”)。最后,你可能认为种族是虚幻的——它们更像一种魔法精灵而不是星期四或美元(“反现实主义”))”可知,Christmas为一个节日,是社会的共有认知,应属于“社会建构主义”。故选A项。
根据第五段“A great example of a story with social constructionist taking on race is George Schuyler’s novel Black No More. In the book, a Black scientist named Crookman invents a procedure that makes Black people visually indistinguishable from Whites. Thousands of African Americans flock to Crookman’s Black No More clinics and pay him their hard-earned cash to undergo the procedure. In a final episode, Crookman discovers that new Whites are actually a whiter shade of pale than those who were born that way, which kicks off a trend of sunbathing to darken one’s skin-darkening it so as to look more While.(一个以社会建构主义观点来探讨种族问题的精彩例子是乔治·斯库勒的小说《不再是黑人》。
根据第一段“Philosophers have a bad reputation for expressing themselves in a dry and boring way. The ideals for most philosophical writing are precision, clarity, and the sort of conceptual analysis that leaves no hair un-split.(哲学家以枯燥乏味的方式表达自己而臭名昭著。大多数哲学作品的理想是精确、清晰,以及那种不留痕迹的概念分析)”以及最后一段“Philosophically rich stories like this bring more technical works to life. They are stories to think with.(像这样富有哲理的故事给生活带来了更多的技术作品。它们是用来思考的故事)”以及纵观全文可知,文章主要介绍了哲学的抽象而复杂的理念往往是通过一个个有趣的小故事的形式体现的,它会启发读者思考,所以B项“Stories to Think with(可供思考的故事)”是本文最好的标题。故选B项。
第二节(共5小题; 每小题2.5分, 满分12.5分)
Hanfu is a traditional robe(长袍) of the Han people, which has a history of thousands of years in China. The number of people adopting the ancient style of dress in modem times has. grown significantly these days. The hanfu clothing industry is now worth one billion yuan(US$140.7 million). ___16___ However, it may be too early to call it a “revival”(复兴).
___17___ And it sounds impressive that about 2.2 million people in China wear hanfu. But considering that the clothing retail(零售) industry was worth 1.92 trillion yuan in 2017, one billion yuan is a small number. Similarly, 2.2 million seems a small number considering that China’s population is more than 1.3 billion.
Having played a major role in China’s clothing history, hanfu remained popular until the late 1600s. ___18___ After pursuing Western fashion, it’s natural that Chinese people are returning to traditional clothing in search of their cultural identity.
But what is the obstacle of hanfu’s revival, despite people’s love for it ___19___ The hanfu trend appeared five years ago, so the industry is quite young. And many tailors are still learning how best to make hanfu from historical TV dramas and so on. But most of these historical dramas are fictional, as are many of the clothes the characters wear.
Short-video and live-streaming apps are the other sources that promote the hanfu culture. But most of these live streamers have their own shops. ___20___ To fulfill their selfish interests, those behind the short videos and live-streaming blame one another instead of working together to revive the hanfu culture.
If these live-streamers really want to develop the hanfu culture, they should change their attitude and work together for the betterment of the hanfu industry.
A. One billion yuan is a huge figure.
B. The lack of a standard seems to be the main problem.
C. The popularity of hanfu reflects the diversity of Chinese culture.
D. This means they promote hanfu culture to increase their own profits.
E. Even the traditional Korean and Japanese costumes originated from it.
F. This has prompted many to say it symbolizes the revival of Han or hanfu culture.
G. It is natural for Chinese people to show their love for traditional culture by wearing hanfu.
F 17. A 18. E 19. B 20. D
The hanfu clothing industry is now worth one billion yuan(US$140.7 million). However, it may be too early to call it a “revival”(复兴).
And it sounds impressive that about 2.2 million people in China wear hanfu.
The hanfu trend appeared five years ago, so the industry is quite young. And many tailors are still learning how best to make hanfu from historical TV dramas and so on. But most of these historical dramas are fictional, as are many of the clothes the characters wear.
To fulfill their selfish interests, those behind the short videos and live-streaming blame one another instead of working together to revive the hanfu culture.

In the spring sun, my aunt and I headed for her flower shop. Normally I would be delighted to help in her shop, but not recently because of Rosa. Rosa was my sister, just one month old, who was settled in my old bedroom. For ten years, the small room was full of my toys and books. But now it was transformed into her baby room, decorated like a garden with pinks and yellows. My space, my old life, was gone.
“Here we are!” We arrived at the shop, a wave of colour and sweet smell washing over me. My aunt said I could pick some flowers for Mum and Dad. I used to love this, but today I was so overcome with tiredness and envy. Why bother to bring them flowers when they were enjoying Rosa at home without me
Silently I helped my aunt arrange flowers. “Your mum told me there hasn’t been much shut eye recently for any of you.” “Not much, since Rosa the alarm clock was installed (安装).” I complained with a huge yawn (哈欠).
“I remember having to creep (蹑手蹑脚地走) around like a worn-out mouse when your mum was a baby. I spent the first months hating her so much.” “But you and Mum seem so close,” I said, guiltily hiding away my envy of Rosa.
“Now we are. But it took me years to grow into the role of big sister. Few flowers blossom (绽放) overnight, you know.” She pulled me in for aside hug, glancing up at the clock, and suggested I take a walk outside.
Behind her shop was a field dotted with spring flowers. Stepping into the field, I began to pick little flowers. It was like gathering my childhood memories. I remembered how I’d sit with Dad, making flower chains, crowning (授予) each other with the silliest titles: Queen of Junk Food and King of Mess. My smile grew wider. The shining yellow flowers reminded me of the color in Rosa’s baby room. Was she awake I wondered.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Suddenly I saw two familiar figures walking towards me. “Look who’s here!” my dad exclaimed with a smile, holding Rosa with a baby basket. The yellow flowers in my hand seemed to glow even brighter as I gazed at the beautiful little girl. I couldn’t help recalling what my aunt told me. I knew that it would take time for me to adjust to sharing my parents’ attention and my old room, but I was determined to be the best big sister I could be. Then I carefully arranged the yellow flowers into a small bouquet and handed it to my mom with a smile. “These are for you and Dad, and also for Rosa,” I said, feeling a warmth in my chest that had been missing earlier.
Rosa was wide awake in her baby basket beside the picnic blanket. Her big blue eyes were open, taking in the world around her. As I watched my little sister, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder and amazement at how perfect she was. I gently picked her up and held her close, feeling her warmth and breathing in the sweet scent of her hair. I knew that from now on, my life would never be the same. I would no longer be the center of attention, and I would have to share my parents with this beautiful little creature. But as I looked into Rosa’s eyes, I knew that it was all worth it. She was my family, and I loved her more than anything in the world.
