Late in September of 2009 I went to Algonquin’s Lake to canoe (划独木舟) when a sudden rainstorm forced me to stop my car in Peterborough, Ontario. When the wind and rain stopped, I found myself in the parking lot of the Canadian Canoe Museum. Then I went to visit the museum. During my visit I saw different kinds of canoes. I was impressed by the beauty of those wooden boats in Peterborough.
When I saw Ted Moores’s book, Canoecraft, in the gift shop, I bought it. I read the book from cover to cover. Near the end of the trip, I decided to build a canoe.

People who have trouble walking or moving around often have a hard time enjoying the beach. But hundreds of beaches in Greece now offer a new way for people in wheelchairs to get into the water by themselves. It’s called Seatrac.

Making your bed after you wake up in the morning seems like a boring task; however, this little thing may surprise you.
The Washington Post shares the words of William H. McRaven who wrote a book named Make Your Bed: “If you make your bed every morning, it will give you a sense of pride and encourage you to do anther task, and another and another. By the end of the day, one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right.” McRaven said.
Another reason to stick to bed-making is that it can help you sleep better at night. A make bed can not only start your day off right, but can also be a nice place to come back to at bedtime. People’s sleep environment plays an important role in the quality of their sleep. Poor “sleep hygiene” like noise light, stress, and untidy things, can lead to a bad night’s sleep. Returning to a bedroom that is a safe place with a clean and inviting bed after a stressful day will improve your chances of getting a good night’s sleep.
If you want bed-making to be a daily habit try to do it first after waking up in the morning or maybe brushing your teeth. You can even use a reminder on your phone to help to make sure that this gets done.
Whatever way you decide to go about it, it is really just a matter of taking minutes to smooth your bedding in the morning. You will feel a sense of achievement knowing that your first task of the day has been successfully completed. From there you can go out into the world thankfully to have a clean and comfortable place where you can rest your tired body at the day’s end.
12. What may McRaven agree with
A. Don’t put off today’s things till tomorrow.
B. Making the bed can encourage a successful day.
C. Doing small things well gives people a sense of safety.
D. People should try their best to do whatever they can do.
13. What is the advantage of making the bed
A. Making you know how to keep the bedroom tidy.
B. Pushing you to have a healthy lifestyle.
C. Helping people have a good sleep.
D. Keeping people’s good personal hygiene.
14. What is the author’s purpose in writing the last but one paragraph
A. To encourage people to wake up early.
B. To teach people how to stick to bed-making.
C. To teach people how to organise their day.
D. To show how to develop a healthy lifestyle.
15. What is the text mainly about
A. Making the bed can be good for you.
B. A good night’s sleep helps you have a nice day.
C. Good habits can influence your daily life.
D. Small things plays an important role in your success.

When I was 11, I quite wanted a bicycle-not any bicycle, but a blue bicycle from Jihnston’s store on the Hill, a smal shopping area that was six blocks away from the our house.
The Monday before Christmas, my 9-yea r old Steve and I ran to the Hill to do our Christmas shopping. Past the ice- cream shop and the pet store, we entered the five-and dime store. My brother had his savings (65cents) held in his hand, and I had four dollars, some of which I had got by cleaning the neighbor’s yard. At the store, I picked out writing paper for our sister, a pair of earrings for our mom, and notebook for our 45-year-old since he would be going to college to get a Ph, D. I had enough money left to buy basball cards for Steve.
We went home by way of the bike store, so I could look at my bike. It wasn’t my bike actually, but I was saving money to buy it. I wanted it more than anything else in the world. It was a blue Italian model; I had never seen another one like it. I planned to ride it to school. However, to my shock, the blue bike had been sold. It seemed like my heart stopped and time stood still. For three months, ever since the first day I saw it, I had been saving money to buy it. I ran from the store, fighting back tears.
On the way home, I thought I no longer needed the 12 dollars I had saved. I started to think what I should buy with it.
Back home, when I put my package presents under the tree, I noticed other packages which had been palced by Steve, my sister and my parents.
After dinner, Dad told us that he would go to college and that our family would have a tight (紧) budget. And he felt sorry for that. Suddenly, I knwe what I would use my 12 dollars for. I ran to my room, and wrote on a card, “Dear Dad, this is for your education.”
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右,2.请按如下格线作答。
And I put the paper and the money into a shoesbox.

If you want bed-making to be a daily habit, try to do it first after waking up in the morning or maybe brushing your teeth.

We went home by way of the bike store so I could look at my bike.
After dinner, Dad told us that he would go to college and that our family would have a tight (紧的) budget. And he felt sorry for that. Suddenly, I knwe what I would use my 12 dollars for. I ran to my room, and wrote on a card, “Dear Dad, this is for your education.”

【答案】范文
And I put the paper and the money into a shoesbox. I put it under the tree. On Christmas morning, my family began opening gifts. Steve and my sister found the presents they wanted. My mom put on the blue earrings and smiled at me. Then, Dad held the shoebox, confused. Carefully he opened it, taking out the note. When he finished reading, his eyes seemed to fill with tears. He laughed and said to me, “It looks like I'm all ready for college. This is the most wonderful Christmas I've ever had. I hope it is for you too.”
When I thought abut that blue bike, Mom suddenly said, “Terry, could you go to the kitchen to see if the coffee is ready ” I hurried to the kitchen. I couldn’t believe my eyes. There, parked next to the table was the blue bike from Johnston's bike store. And there was a card, reading, “Merry Christmas, Terry.” I couldn't help rushing to hug my parents, excited and grateful. Then, taking a deep breath, I ran over and gently touched the bike. Now, the bike is long gone, but I still remember that Christmas when my parents and I brought each other surprise and joy.
