As students, it's very important for us to know what to do and what not to do. We should go to school on time. We should not be late for class. In class, we should listen to the teacher carefully. We should do our homework by our-selves and not copy others’ homework. We should take an active part in sports and keep healthy. We should always be ready to help the people who are in trouble. When wait-ing for a bus, we must stand in line and wait for our turns. We should not push others and jump the queue. In a bus,we should give seats to older people or people with children. We should not speak loudly or spit in public, and we should not litter things about. It's our duty to protect the environment around us.
If we do so,I'm sure we will be polite students.2023-2024学年第一学期期末考试卷

In many parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution. They join environment clubs. In an environment club, people work together to keep the environment clean.
Here are the things students often do.
Save the water! Do you know that some toilets can waste twenty to forty tons of water an hour
In a year, that would fill a small river! In environment clubs, students repair those broken toilets.
No-car day. On a no-car day, nobody comes to school in a car, neither the students no r the teachers! Cars will cause air pollution. So remember:walk, jump, bike or run.
Use your legs! There's lots of fun!
No-garbage lunches. How much litter do you throw away after lunch Environment clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they will choose the classes that make the least garbage to report to the whole school!

Thirty years ago, Lake Ponkapo g in Hartwell was full of life. Many birds and animals lived beside the water which was full of fish. Now there are few birds, animals and fish. People polluted the lake water.
How did this happen First, we must think about how water gets into Lake Ponkapog. When it rains, water comes into the lake from all around. In the past, there were forests all round Lake Ponkapog, so the rainwater was clean.
Now there are many homes around the lake. People often use the chemicals in their gardens. They also use chemicals inside their houses for cleaning or killing insects. There are many factories. Factories use chemicals to produce products and some chemicals fall onto the ground from cars or trucks. When it rains, the rains, the rainwater picks up all the chemicals from homes, factories, cars and trucks and then carries them into the lake. They pollute the water and kill the animals.
Boats on the lake are also a problem. Lake Ponkapog is a popular place for motorboats. But oil and gas from boats often leak(泄漏) into the lake. So more harmful chemicals go into the water this way.
People in Hartwell are worried. They love their lake and want to save it. Will it be possible A clean lake must have clean rainwater going into it. Clean rainwater is possible only if people are more careful about chemicals at home and at work. They must also be more careful about gas and oil and other chemicals on the ground. And they mustn't use motorboats any more on the lake. All these may change people's life. Only then can LakePonkapo g be a beautiful, clean lake again.
