e.g. The students remained noisy when the teacher came in.
He stayed to see the end of the game.
We should always keep smiling.
2.even though
1.The general searched for three days and found a happy person.
He searched for work at various stores.
You can search for it on the Internet.
All night they searched for Margot.
拓展:search for 和look for 都有“寻找”的意思。
search for 则指“搜寻、搜索某人或物”.look for 意为“寻找”,同search for意义大体相同。
I looked for my missing pen everywhere.
search sb./sp. for sth. 找...
eg: search the village for the thief
search the Internet for some information
search for some information on the Internet
We searched in the woods for the missing child.
How long did it take the general to find the happy man?
“It takes sb.some time to do sth.”
(1)sb.spends some time(money)on sth./in doing sth.
sth.costs (sb.)money某物花费某人金钱;(doing)sth.costs sb.some time(做)某事花费某人时间。
3.How long did it take the general to find the happy man
how long 多久;多长时间
e.g. How long will you stay in China
e.g. —How long has he been away from here
—For three years.
How long is the table
How far is it from here to your house
辨析:how long, how far, how soon 与how often
how long
—How soon will you finish the job
—In about one hour.
— How often do you exercise
— Once a day.
