Ladies and gentlemen,
I am honored to stand here to share my opinion on the topic “Reading Enriches Life ”. As a
famous saying goes, “Reading makes a full man.” I firmly believe reading plays a crucial role in
shaping our lives and enriching our experiences.
First and foremost, reading broadens our horizons and deepens our understanding of the
world. Through reading, we can travel to distant places, explore different cultures and gain insight
into other’s lives. Moreover, reading is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-improvement.
The knowledge and wisdom found in books can inspire us to strive for our goals.
Let’s pick up a book and start a journey of enriching our life through reading.
Thanks for your listening.
Soon the lights were turned off and the movie began. However, I didn’t enjoy the movie at all
for fear of being spotted. I sank my body further into my seat, praying that they wouldn’t notice
me. Every now and then I would steal glances at them. Every time they chatted in a whisper, my
heart was pounding violently. Thankfully, after what seemed years, the movie came to an end and
the lights came on. I waited anxiously until my aunt and uncle left the cinema. I let out a sigh of
relief, dashed for the door and tried to make a quick exit with Raine.
To my surprise, my uncle and aunt were standing at the exit smiling. When they called out
my name, I was so embarrassed that I lowered my head with a burning face , unsure of what to do.
They walked up to me and my aunt asked why I was absent from school patiently. Palms sweating,
I stammered out an excuse but they seemed unconvinced. Patting my shoulder gently, my uncle
promised, “We won’t tell your father but hope that you won’t skip school again.” I nodded my
head in great shame. From then on, this awkward experience kept reminding me of the importance
of honesty and responsibility in my life. /This experience has taught me that sometimes we need to
make a tough decision to do what is right.
A 篇
根据第二段 “This is also the same size as San Francisco”可知,二者共同
根据第三段 “As a subtropical island” , “15-28℃ all year round”以及 “St
{#{QQABQYAUggAgQgBAARgCQQGaCAGQkAGCAKoOBBAMoAABgBNABAA=}#}
Helena is free from extreme weather events”
根据最后一段 “Until 2017, St Helena did not have an airport and was only
accessible by sea.”
根据第四段最后一句 “...in the interest of her brother”可知她刚开始的时候
从第一段 “Even movie fans struggle to concentrate for that long and some
viewers even nod off. Afterwards there is a mad dash for the toilets.”
You are not too sure about the direction可知“你”属于不太知道如何选择的一
37. G 从后文中提到的 “during your gap year”说明此处应将 gap year作为一种解决方案。
39. C 从后文中的“Choosing a sport adventure in another country”可知,此处是另一个建议。

55. A 句意:…

65. restored

(Text 1)
W: Do you know there are some changes to this evening’s programs The Nature Program at nine
o’clock won’ t be shown. Instead, the cartoon The Mighty Heroes will be at this time.
M: Oh really Perhaps because of the football match finishing late.
(Text 2)
M: I’ m off now, Mum. I’m going to meet Ben at the tennis club because he wants me to help him
put the new wheel on his bike ... and I’ve got to take my books back to the library today.
W: Well, do that before you start working on the bike because it isn’t open this afternoon.
(Text 3)
W: What will the weather be like tomorrow
M: The day will start showery until late morning although we might see some sunny periods
between the showers. It will be cloudy by midday.
(Text 4)
W: How was your family trip, Jason
M: I’d imagined that staying by a lake would be like being at the beach, but a lot of water sports
were not allowed due to the weather. So we walked along the shore and my cousin showed us
where to find local birds.
(Text 5)
M: Let me take a look at your holiday photos, Jane.
W: Oh, no. I’m really disappointed with them. The only good one is the one of us all standing
together on the cliff top looking down at the beach.
(Text 6)
W: So why are you keen on going by tram
M: Well, because it always keeps moving, even when there’s heavy traffic. So we’ll get there
within 15 minutes.
W: No way. A nine-minute journey through the city center took just ten-and-a-half minutes to
walk. I’d rather go by subway, really.
M: I don’t fancy that. It’s going to be really hot and crowded. The same with the bus.
W: I have a good idea. We can ride to the harbor on our bikes, put them on the boat and sail down
the river.
M: Right, that’s sorted, then.
(Text 7)
M: It’s already 2:00. Why don’t you go now Then you’d be there before 3 and have more chance
of getting good tickets.
W: I just don’t want to. It’ll be fine, if we can go in half an hour.
M: Well, I know you’ll be disappointed if you don’t get any tickets. They’re one of your favorite
bands. And what about your friends You promised them you’d get some for them too!
W: Well, I want to, but that’s why I need a lift there ---- I’ll get there quicker.
M: You know I’m busy today. Why don’t you cycle
W: Oh Dad, it’s raining!
(Text 8)
W: Hi James, how’re you doing
M: Hello Martha, I’m good. Did you watchMadison last night
W: I did. Great, wasn’t it The whole series has been fantastic. The final show was hard to follow
{#{QQABQYAUggAgQgBAARgCQQGaCAGQkAGCAKoOBBAMoAABgBNABAA=}#}
though ---- there was so much happening.
M: You did have to concentrate to keep up, for sure.
W: Why is the series so popular
M: Actually, I think the hero Mr. Madison is the reason why it’s a hit. He’s a really unusual person
---- sort of brilliant doctor one minute, big kid the next.
W: I’m with you on that. The personal stories of some of the other characters were fascinating too
---- watching Mr. Madison work out how to help them was a bit like watching a detective at work.
M: Yeah, he was very funny. And a lot of people were surprised by that. But I don’t see that’s
strange. I don’t think I’ll ever find the time to watch it all again unfortunately, though I’d love to.
(Text 9)
W: Brian, as a comedian, you do a range of different shows, don’t you
M: Yes, I do musical comedy and alternative comedy as well as physical comedy, but physical
comedy is the best. Now, most of the comedy I do is actually alternative comedy. You know,
there’s a big demand for it these days.
W: So when was your first time on stage
M: I was at a holiday camp when I was 2 and my parents lost me in the dance hall. Then they
heard loads of people laughing and they saw me up on stage making a fool of myself. When I
started my school at 7, I found that I had difficulty in reading and writing. I couldn’t keep up at
school, so I naturally became the school joker. But singing was always my first edy
came later. When I was 17, I found that you get paid more for doing comedy than singing.
W: And you still get nervous before the performance
M: I used to think that as I was more experienced, I’d be more relaxed. Then I realize that it
doesn’t get any easier because I want to do well. But the audience participation makes me more
excited during the show.
W: Thanks. Brian.
