Just Cycle and Fold away
There’s no excuse not to get on your bike this spring. Get your indoor cycling fix and feel the benefits. Great for general cardio (有氧的)fitness, exercise bikes can be a brilliant way of training at home.
However, choosing the right bike is incredibly important, which is something that Roger Black and his team recognized when creating the Roger Black Folding Bike.
“Excellent value for money. Especially the ability to fold the exercise bike into a vertical(直立的)position and wheel it away for storage. This can also prevent you from throwing your clothes on it at the end of the day! Even if we are limited on space at home and work, we can continue physical activity with a Roger Black Folding Bike. This bike is helping me achieve my fitness goals following a recent running injury.”
——Brian Smith “Best Present EVER are the words from my 77-year-old father who received his Roger Black fitness bike
for his birthday. He said it is so simple and easy to use. The seat is VERY comfortable, so using it every day is a pleasure. It folds away nearly so it can be stored behind a door when necessary.”

Learning Chinese could be one of the most important decisions you ever make. Chinese is becoming the language to learn in the 21st century. With the world's largest population and a rapidly growing middle class, China stands to become the engine of the world's economy in the coming years. This will make learning Chinese very important for people in many industries, or for those of us who wish to visit China or learn from its culture and history.
There is an ongoing effort to modernize the writing system and standardize the language. An increasing number of people learning Chinese are learning the Mandarin, so unless you absolutely need to learn another dialect (such as Cantonese), be sure you are studying Mandarin.
For native English speakers Chinese is one of the most difficult and most different languages to learn. The vocabulary is wholly unfamiliar and unlike anything we know. In addition, in the Chinese tone system, words are spoken in rising or falling tones, which help to distinguish between them. Furthermore, there is the Chinese writing system--- a collection of thousands of individual ideograms (表意文字), or symbols, which represent a word or an idea. These ideograms have no phonetic value---that is to say, we can't tell how the word is pronounced by how it is written. There is a method to present written Chinese in a phonetic script called pinyin. If you are learning Chinese, you'll be working with this pinyin system, but the beauty of the traditional writing system shouldn't be passed up. All these factors make learning Chinese difficult for us. Yet, for a determined learner, there's always a way to overcome it.
Learning Chinese is becoming more and more important, because .
Chinese engines are very welcome
China has the world's largest population
there are more and more rich people in China
China has become important to the world economy
From the text we can learn that .
the author thinks Chinese is as difficult as English
the author is interested in the Chinese language and its culture
foreign languages can play a great role in industrial development
as long as the pinyin system is learned well, one can learn Chinese well
The last paragraph mainly tells us about .
A. the difficulties of learning Chinese B. the advantages of learning Chinese
C. the Chinese tone system D. the Chinese writing system
What would be probably written following this text
A. The sources of Chinese characters. B. The importance of learning Chinese.
C. The advice on how to learn Chinese. D. The difficulties of learning other languages.
C
A few weeks ago, my teenage daughter Lisa failed a test. The grade might stop her from qualifying for the next class she wanted to take. There were tears and some complaints for a few minutes. Then I saw something interesting. She made a joke, expressed gratitude that she didn't have bigger problems, and finally made a plan on how to make improvements.
She was never the same as she was one year ago. That one was unwilling to take responsibility. That one stayed in anger and blamed others. We expect our kids to learn and grow. We hope for it. However, most of us grow through adversity(逆境),even trauma (精神创伤).It happened to Lisa last year repeatedly. She searched for ways to get her bearings and equip herself when everything around her was changing by the day.
Psychologists call it post- traumatic growth.
Trauma refers to an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, attack, natural disaster, or other life-changing happenings. The growth after trauma doesn't mean we get through challenges uninjured. It's been a scary and painful time, for everyone, in one way or another. We may experience disbelief, depression, and even denial. As time moves on, people who have experienced trauma may have headaches or other physical symptoms, emotional ups and downs, and even relationship problems. Trauma does leave its irremovable marks.
However, in one study, researchers surveyed nearly 385 people who experienced financial difficulty during the pandemic. 88 percent of the people surveyed say they also have experienced some positive outcomes they now have stronger family relationships and a greater appreciation of life.
What is Lisa like now when she fails
A. She tries to cover it. B. She is positive and adult.
C. She acts unconcerned. D. She wants to make excuses. 29.What does the author intend to tell us through Lisa's experience
There is no sweet without sweat.
Experience is the father of wisdom.
Difficult situations are likely to make one stronger.
Responsibility is often more important than ability.
How does the author prove his view A.By analyzing existing data.
By quoting a psychologist.
By contrasting a person's constant changes.
By giving examples together with study results.
Which of the following may the author agree with about post-traumatic growth A.It usually comes at a high price.
It produces little negative feelings.
It is one of the fastest ways to make improvements.
It is growth that does both good and harm.
D
A flood hit Yellowstone National Park on June 13, 2022. The disaster was caused by a combination of unusually heavy rains and rapid snow melt. The high and fast water flows destroyed bridges and swept away entire roadways, leaving communities and homes isolated. Fortunately, the approximately 10,000 park visitors were safely evacuated.
The town of Gardiner, along the Montana-Wyoming border, was particularly hard hit. The floodwaters left almost 900 people with no power or water for many days. Gardiner’s economy, which depends on the almost three-quarters of a million visitors who pass through the park’s north gate annually, is likely to take a hit. The floodwaters severely damaged the main north entrance road to Yellowstone, and could take years to rebuild.
Park officials have begun work on improving an alternative road to Gardiner. This will ensure that locals can access food, supplies, and other essential emergency services. A limited number of tourists may also be allowed into Gardiner once the road is stable.
Yellowstone’s north gate is closed indefinitely. But the park’s south gate opened to visitors on June 22, 2022. Park officials have started a new entry system to prevent overcrowding. It is based on the last number of the visitor’s vehicle license plate and the calendar date of the month. Cars with odd (奇数的) numbers can visit the park on odd days of the month, while those with even (偶数的) numbers can go on even days.
Established in 1872, Yellowstone is America’s oldest national park. The 3,472-square-mile reserve spans three states and is home to many unique wildlife. It is known for its natural beauty that includes mountains, rivers and lakes. The forces of fire and ice shaped the park over thousands of years.
What does the underlined word “isolated” in paragraph 1 probably mean
A. Tracked. B. Separated. C. Decorated. D. Improved.
What was the possible result of the flood
Gardiner’s economy would get into trouble.
Communities and homes were left in ruins.
Almost 900 people were trapped in the park.
The park’s south gate was closed for a while.
What can be inferred from the text
Local people can get daily necessities from visitors.
The park has adopted a new system to recognize faces.
The license plate number decides when cars enter the park.
More tourists may flood into the park for geological features.
What can be the best title for the text
Flooding Has Caused Widespread Damage in the US
Yellowstone National Park Was Closed due to Flooding
Natural Beauty Makes Yellowstone America’s Oldest Park
Yellowstone National Park Partially Reopens After Flooding

Learning to set goals plays an important role as your child starts to gain independence. However, setting goals doesn’t come naturally to your child, so helping him to learn the process should probably be one of your goals.
Explain the word“goal”. Your child may know what a goal is when it comes to soccer, but he may not understand what it means in everyday life. 36
Listen to your child. Ideally, you want your child to be able to decide for himself what his goals are.
37 Let him talk about what he thinks he does well and that he thinks he needs to improve. If he’s stuck, you can provide some examples of your own personal goals.
Help keep goals achievable. Don’t throw cold water on your child. 38 For example, if your child wants to be a champion swimmer, but can’t swim an entire lap of the pool yet, you can suggest he start by making that his first goal.
39 Help your child write down his goals in an easy-to-follow form. Being able to see and check off the steps on the way to his goal is key in keeping him motivated. A really simple way is to have your child draw a ladder on a piece of paper, writing his goal at the top and each step to that goal on the rungs(梯级). 40
Change goals every so often.
Make a visual goal reminder.
Don’t always tell him what you think.
He’s climbing to the top as he gets closer to his goal.
You can take sports as an example to help explain it to him.
Once he has set up a goal, he may find it very difficult to achieve it.
When a goal is beyond his reach, help him break it down into smaller pieces.
