(2021全国乙卷A篇)The Biggest Stadiums in the World
People have been pouring into stadiums since the days of ancient Greece. In around 80 A.D., the Romans built the Colosseum, which remains the world’s best known stadium and continues to inform contemporary design. Rome’s Colosseum was 157 feet tall and had 80 entrances, seating 50,000 people. However, that was small fry compared with the city’s Circus Maximus, which accommodated around 250,000 people.
These days, safety regulations-not to mention the modern sports fan’s desire for a good view and comfortable seat—tend to keep stadium capacities(容量)slightly lower. Even soccer fans tend to have a seat each; gone are the days of thousands standing to watch the match.
For the biggest stadiums in the world, we have used data supplied by the World Atlas list so far, which ranks them by their stated permanent capacity, as well as updated information from official stadium websites.
·Rungrado 1st of May Stadium, Pyongyang D.P.R. Korea. Capacity: 150,000. Opened: May 1,1989.
·Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, Michigan, U. S. Capacity: 107,601. Opened: October 1, 1927.
·Beaver Stadium, State College, Pennsylvania, U. S. Capacity: 106,572. Opened: September 17, 1960.
·Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio, U. S. Capacity: 104,944. Opened: October 7,1922.
·Kyle Field, College Station, Texas, U. S. Capacity: 102,512. Opened: September 24, 1927.

Who says college isn’t worth it Graduates of each of these 4 small colleges can look forward to cashing in when they hit the job market.
Amherst College: Amherst, Massachusetts
Average earnings: $82,000
Harvard may be the more selective and well-known university in the state, but it’s Amherst College’s graduates who are pulling in the salary. It’s known as one of the “Little Ivies”. Despite Amherst’s tiny size (2,000 undergraduates in total), its alumni (校友) network is well-connected and involved with the student body, which helps explain why graduates get top job opportunities.
Lafayette College: Easton, Pennsylvania
Average earnings: $81,000
Another Little Ivy, Lafayette College graduates about the same number of students as Amherst each year. Those graduates make nearly as much as Amherst graduates based on Zippia’s research. Helene Fuld College of Nursing: New York, NY
Average earnings: $79,300
Nurses are in very high demand, according to Indeed, and that demand is expected to remain strong. This contributes to the high pay offered to this nursing school’s graduates. So does its location in New York City, where salaries (and the cost of living) are higher.
Bates College: Lewiston, Maine
Average earnings: $75,700
Another small liberal arts college — and Little Ivy — Bates offers, among other things, a small teacher-to-student rate. It is also noted that Bates has one of the most beautiful campuses around, helping draw a highly driven student body.

(2023秋·新疆·高三校联考期中)The famous magazine, Runner’s World, has chosen some of the best, most difficult and enjoyable UK races.
Top of the Wolds 10K Challenge
This 10-km countryside track in Yorkshire is all fun until you take the left turn at Nunburnholme. At this point, you enter a serious uphill part, but thankfully the uphill part only lasts for around 1.5 km. You’ll have about a kilometre to enjoy the views before the way takes you downhill again, and back to where you started in Warter—a cute little village.
Scurry2Bridges Run
This 161-km relay race (接力赛) is divided into 16 parts, so you each run 4 separate parts. Over the course of this day-long adventure, you’ll each run about marathon distance while the workers will drive around for pick-ups and drop-offs at relay exchange points between the start in Dundee and the finish in Edinburgh.
Scafell Sky Race
Here’s a trail run (越野跑) that is not suitable for beginners. With a total of 3,500 m of ascent (上坡路), this is unquestionably one of the hardest events around. Good thing is that the views are beautiful, and that there’s hot food and a bottle of apple juice waiting for you in the end.
Offa’s Dyke 15
The traditional 15-mile distance begins at the Clock Tower in Hay-on-Wye and includes a few hard climbs before finishing in Kington. This year the hard event has added a less challenging 10 km around Kington.

(2023秋·河南·高三开封高中校联考期中)At its best, a family picnic is a mini-vacation: a chance to leave the day-to-day routine behind and spend some time together out under the open sky. These best picnic spots in Seattle and beyond offer a range of experiences, from farm fun to exploring woods to hiking.
Poo Poo Point, Issaquah
For kids and adults who have the energy to take on a 2-mile hike uphill, this amusingly named destination in the Issaquah Alps offers huge rewards. After reaching the Chirico Trail, you come to a broad, clear area, with a sweeping view of Lake Sammamish, Issaquah and Bellevue. As for where to set up picnic camp, there are two picnic tables.
Dr. Jose Rizal Park, Seattle
Located on the northwest corner of Beacon Hill, this park boasts a sweeping view overlooking Elliott Bay and downtown Seattle. Long before this spot became a park, the hillside was a favorite picnic destination for Filipino families living in the neighborhood. It’s named after Jose Rizal, a brilliant writer, a scientist and a hero in the Philippines’ struggle for independence. The fantastic Seattle picnic spot also has a playground, an area for dogs and walking trails.
Mount Baker Park, Seattle
This leafy lakefront park is one of Seattle Parks’ swimming beaches. It’s open this summer, with lifeguards on duty. The most popular place to picnic is probably near the swimming area, but there are many lovely shady spots in the inland part of the park. The updated playground will attract kids. For biking families, pack your wheels and enjoy a ride along Lake Washington Boulevard. A section is closed to cars on summer weekends to ensure cycling safely.
Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, Shoreline
Cross a narrow bridge over the railroad tracks at Saltwater Park in Shoreline and you’re in a world of sun, sea and sand dunes. This is one of Puget Sound’s windy places, so you’ll often spot kiteboarders playing in the waves nearby. But with a little insider knowledge, you can save your pounds and bag your skyline photos without the crowds through accessing the following viewpoints.
Parliament Hill
London is mostly flat, but if you know where to look there are a few hills that provide natural (and free) high points offering city views with a side order of fresh air.
One of the most central is Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath——at 98m, one of London’s highest natural viewpoints. From here, on a clear day, you can sit on the park bench that featured in movies like Run Fatboy Run and Notes on a Scandal.
Entry fee: free
The Garden Museum Tower
If you exit left out of Westminster station, battle your way over the bridge and then turn right, past the view of Big Ben and walk along the south side of the Thames, you’ll come to a medieval (中 世纪的) church.
While you might be interested in British garden design, it’s the 14th-Century tower that’s the main attraction for photographers. Climb the 131 steps of the narrow spiral staircase and you’ll emerge onto one of the finest riverside viewpoints in the city——with views across to the Palace of Westminster on the right.
Entry fee: Adult f16, or Tower only 4
The IFS Cloud Cable Car
If you want to soar over London in a glass pod, the obvious place to go is the London Eye. But a cheaper and crowd-free alternative is to ride the IFS Cloud Cable Car.
The views are impressive at any time, but the Cable Car stays open late, so you can even enjoy magnificent sunsets from the west——facing side or admire the twinkling city lights after dark.
Entry fee: E6 one-way
Seabird, Southwark
London has no shortage of rooftop venues (场所) offering knockout cityscape views, so it can be hard to pick just one or two. But for location, angles and a great experience, it doesn’t get much better than Seabird, on the 14th floor of the Hoxton hotel in Southwark with nothing to block views on three sides.
Entry fee: Buy a drink: draught beer costs 6.50 or small glass of wine is 9; a portion of olives costs 5.
37.Where can you go if you want to photograph the 14th-Century tower
